and clean, cool water with lint free cloth can't be used because? it works fine for me when i need to clean my iPhone

They are cleaning the internal layers of the LCD not the outside surface. The problem isn't with the chemical, it is with the procedure.

So the manager was "fired." Just exactly how do they "fire" someone in China? Does it include a line of armed men, a forced confession, a last smoke? Is the person "fired" in the work place (as an example) or a remote discrete location? So many unanswered questions in this story.

You mean "Fire" as in "Firearms"?

Sure are a lot of, "Don't blame Apple," posts here, as if a corporation doesn't voluntarily get to choose who it contracts out to.

Everyone knows how the worker is treated in China. If Apple cared about the worker, it wouldn't outsource to third parties in China (or, possibly, it would run its own factories in China).

This is complete hor$e***** being pushed by that rumormonger Savitz, and its sole purpose is to negatively impact aapl. This is not news. Anyone can be "preparing to file a lawsuit" at any time. No lawsuit will be filed, but that twit won't write about that. Savitz should be ignored.
The questionable practices at Wintek ended by last August. It involved all contracted work, not just for aapl, but they keep trying to make it sound aapl specific, and often make it sound ongoing and tied to iPad and next gen iPhone. Wake up!

The real price of your expensive gadget...

It's always comforting to know that if there is some worker's abuse, some interrogation about leaked prototype, some chemical accidents and various breaches of safety rules; it's always some subcontractor and never Apple.

They just subcontract the dirty work for the lowest bidder and there you go - your shiny iCrap is made with clear conscience!

n-hexane sounds good to me!

If this stuff causes nerve damage it must really work!

I have been looking for a good screen cleaner.

I'm honestly surprised they were allowed to file a lawsuit. (China is a very corrupt place) The manufacturers usually have a way of "keeping them quiet"...

This probably belongs in another thread, but if I could be 100% slave free I could. But no... :(

Oi, they ripped off the Polytechnic where I live.

I don't think "struggles with delays" should be the operative language. Demand outstrips supply and intended production rates even with a longer ramp period.

The solution is to keep the lines running continuously and as possible add new lines to bottleneck areas. But once initial demand is met, the production rates do not need to be as high anyway, so there will be the typical hurry and wait issue.

iPad V 2.0 is likely to get the green light a month early to address these issues and pre-position inventories to save shipping costs since absolute secrecy will not be as critical.
