What about GPX file generated in mapy.cz I sent you? Were the TBT notifications imported?
If so, one can easily send GPX from Komoot to mapy.cz add TBT info and export to WOD.

I have had a few files from mapy.cz but none with TBT. One person asked them about it and got a response saying they would consider it.

That file looks fine. My current version of the app imports it successfully with the TBT waypoints, so hopefully the next release version should handle it.

Sorry I missed that email. The Suunto GPX had 5 waypoints (<wpt in the file) but only one was a TBT instruction. The other 4 were Begin, Cafe, Peak and End. So I don't really know if it was of use. Maybe there was only one turn on the route.

To the point 🙂 Will the coming navigation implementation include the ability to add a waypoint doing an activity. If so, could it be possible to map this feature to the action button, and would it be possible to export/import waypoints from the iPhone app? This would be very usable in water sports where the touch screen is not very practical.

The next major version will allow you to create a waypoint and this operation will be able to be associated with any gesture, including using the action button. It will also allow you to import and export waypoints.

Note that the current version allows you to import waypoints in GPX files (purely for display) and also to export waypoints for the start of new intervals. So if you want then you can create a new interval whenever you want a waypoint and then enable the "GPX Interval Waypoints" option in the Export Options screen.

The exported GPX file will then include waypoints for the positions when you created a new interval. By default pressing the action button creates a new interval, so it is a (slightly convoluted) way to create waypoints in the exported GPX file with the current version. Although it will be much easier in the next major version.

That sounds great! I do currently have a “route” containing a lot of waypoints that I load whenever I want to have these waypoints visible on the map. This combines with the circle with radius information (when zooming on the crown) works as a work around when kayaking.

I will test the interval workaround until the navigation release.

Thanks - that seems to work pretty well with my current code. I was not parsing the "type" tag so it is not showing the correct icon for "turn right", but I will fix that.

I created a FinalSurge account and tried the 7 day trial but couldn't find out how to create a route. I think it is a new feature that either is not yet available or is not easy to find. Thanks for the heads up though.

Seems like this is only available in the app not on the web? But not sure.

Their support was great in the past, maybe write them an email.

I am afraid not, but route improvements (including POI alerts) are top of my list for the following version, along with Stryd support.

However everything depends on what Apple announce at WWDC. For example if they were to allow third party apps to take advantage of the always on display then getting that working before watchOS 7 is released would be top priority.

Hi, apologies resurrecting an old post from many years ago, but did alerts for approaching POI ever get implemented...I can't see any reference to them anywhere??

(ie - can I create route on plotaroute, include POI's along the way, use the file and then have the POI's pop-up as I approach, as would happen if the GPX was followed on a Garmin)

Nice, sounds good - its the way I prefer TBT, where I can decide in advance where I want alerts, rather than relying on something automated that gives too many or too few notifications!

I can answer #2. I was using WOD while downhill mountain biking and took a nasty spill, the fall detection did trigger just like it should. Hope you get answers to the rest of your questions.

1. I may add weather data if I find somewhere that does it for free

2. Glad to hear from @Drock1119 that fall detection works

3. There are many differences but I tend to focus on what WOD offers that the native app doesn't.

4. Auto-pause for slow activities like walking is hard to implement, which is probably why Apple don't offer it. WOD does, and it works for most people, but some find it unreliable. I figure that is better than not having it at all, but can understand that Apple can't offer something that doesn't work for some people. If Apple do offer it for an activity (e.g. running and cycling) then WOD defaults to using their implementation because it is probably better than mine.

5. Live mirroring is on my to-do list. However it is quite specific to cycling, and even then only for people prepared to mount their phone on the handlebars, so it is lower on the list than features which would benefit every activity type.

6. BT cycling sensors need to be paired via WOD. I will allow them to be paired via watchOS in the future but it is relatively low down my to-do list because it is already possible to use them via WOD. I will probably implement it when I next revisit the sensor functionality, but that won't be for a while.

Since my sensors are already paired with watchOS is it OK to also pair with WOD? I have a KICKR CORE which sends power, speed, and cadence over a single BT connection. Will that work with WOD?
