Wow that was insane. Kinda feel bad for Mexico since they controlled most of the game, but credit to the Netherlands; they didn't stop playing especially in that heat.

I feel bad for Ochoa is particular as he played a great game and the Mexican defense was solid.

The first two goals were beautiful and the final PK was a bit iffy, but made up for the earlier double challenge on Robben where he was kicked squarely in the achilles.

The stats showed the game turning NED's way particularly after the equalizer. Giving up 10 corners alone is a sign of a defense under a lot of pressure.

Mexico stopped trying after they took the lead. It's become pretty apparent in this World Cup you can't rely on playing half the field sitting on a lead for very long and expect to win.

Yes, extremely exiting despite no goals so far. Anyone who uses lack of scoring as an argument against football (soccer) should see this game!

Then all you need to do is point back to the game before with all the boring defense and flopping by the Swiss.

The US just couldn't handle the Belgium attack. Howard kept us in the match with an amazing performance but just couldn't always overcome the poor defensive play by his teammates.

Wow after the Germany game yesterday and the USA game today I need a couple of days to recuperate. What extremely exiting games.

Great, great effort by the US. Played much better football than Belgium in the last half of extra time, shame to see them go.

Belgium v Argentina will be an interesting game, but I fancy Messi and co to go through.

World Cup 2014 Brazil

Well, we can't just attack in the last 10-15 minutes of overtime and think something was going to happen, we should have played like that since the opening whistle. The defense did well for the most part. Don't know what happened in the second half to some of our players. Zusi should have been subbed out earlier, he looked so, so lost, and I can't believe Fabian Johnson went out with the same injury as Altidore. I wonder if it really was the heat that was giving us so much problems.

Tim Howard was a beast though. Most saves by a GK in a World Cup since 1966. That should be qualifications for the golden glove, but we all know the GK of the winning WC team will get that.

I do find it ironic that "the Germans" that people had issues with making the team were the ones to either produce goals or assist with goals.

Overall, even though it was the same result as 2010, I think the team played a lot better now than they did then. We definitely have some future stars in Greene and Yedlin. I hope we can nurture their talent.
