World of Warcraft was a truly great game. I remember playing in the open beta days as an undead mage and all the way up to BC. In vanilla I played until 7AM in WSG even when I had tests in college.

Sometimes the interaction with other players in the battlegrounds got pretty toxic so I quit after returning briefly in Pandaria and completely deleted my account, but if you don't mind the occasional people berating you or your other teammates for something you didn't do wrong I think it's worth the money. I don't know if Roleplaying is still a thing, but when I played in Shadow Council it was really fun to interact with all the people and their versions of their characters' background stories. I might even play again if there was a way to waste my time in places like the old BRD and BFD, trying out new things with friends, but none of my friends are playing now...

I have also heard that the WoW community is quite toxic, I personally have only run into a few players who are. A lot are really friendly and love to help you with quests and what not.

I'm into WoW for the quest lines, so I don't really get involved with the arena stuff.

Will you consider playing again? Have you heard that WoW are releasing Vanilla? :p

OMG!!!!

They are re-launching vanilla. Now I HAVE to try this out again, even if none of my friends are playing anymore, and I deleted the account with the collector's edition Diablo pet and everything. I actually signed up for Nostalrius but the server was shut down by Blizzard, so never even thought about playing the game again. I will certainly play again if vanilla comes around. Just thinking of meeting people in STV(although I usually played in an RP server and very rarely ganked anyone... I think... :)) and playing WSG in the lower brackets is so... exciting.

Thanks for the info, and yes, I'll play the classic server. I promise.

Most, if not all MMOs have toxic communities if you look deep enough. Tbh, WoW really isn’t as bad as some rumors make it out. It was much MUCH worse back in Vanilla-WotLK. Gone are the days servers had that one most hated player, or server wide drama, griefing isn’t a biggie...if you’re on a pvp realm. And if you’re being griefed on a PVE realm then you only have yourself to blame.
You’ll hear of the occasional high level player giving low levels a tough time but that far and few. Some guilds still have drama/fights over silly things like loot and such but, easy to avoid those. I think PvP tends to bring out the worse in attitudes. I quit doing pvp after WotLK so I don’t have the most reliable info for that minor section of WoW.

There’s still a couple RP realms around with their own set of rule as usual.

Yes, they’re making a Classic server, not Vanilla. (Choosing wording carefully, they are) No, it won’t be the same as Nost was or the others still hanging on nor will it be exactly like Vanilla. Again, the time commitment isn’t appealing and I don’t think many of those folks who kept requesting such a server really have any ideas what Vanilla was actually like. Many rude awakenings in store for everybody with that idea... >.<

To be fair, "vanilla" was never an official name; it's just what people tended to call the original version. I believe that Blizzard called it "Brown Box" internally.

Not about what players call it. It’s known now as Classic Server officially.
