I forgot– part of the Internet Bill of Rights entitles everyone to never ever being offended. Moderators? Please, get this man a tissue and pat his back.

Seriously. It is the internet, and some guy you'll never meet said that.

my girlfriend has a box up-stairs. I'll see if she can spare any.

Seems like they would learn by now not to ship their whole stash in one go.

if you will excuse me, some of the posts on here have made me sick. I need to go play with some boobs.

I'm sorry iGary, I just find that very...stereotypical and offensive.

Anyway, that is great news that it isn't on the street.

You clearly don't frequent proper gay clubs then.

what about gay ravers? :D:p

This one didn't shed a tear, pills are notoriously dodgy these days. No sane person would take the risk, I certainly wouldn't. It seems increasingly popular these days to cut them with methamphetamine.

Police seized 4.4 tonnes of ecstasy with a street value of about 400 million dollars. It had been shipped over to Australia from Italy in tins of what appeared to be tomatoes.
That's quite a hall.

Actually, just a few weeks ago few a number of chaps were sentenced to record prison sentences for a drugs haul off the west coast of Ireland which occured in July last year.
<snip>
There is a wonderful postscript. The craft stalled in stormy seas, because, wait for it, in an otherwise meticulously planned operation, they put diesel into an engine designed for petrol. Cheers
Wow.

It's always the little things that trip you up. :)

Can we say, Ouch time?
Like your Star Wars reference. :)

Yes, you're right, I'm very pure of heart. That's me, Mr. Pure of heart never watched any of these 'naughty' videos... ;)

The coast guard arrived and took the saturated ones into custody. Initial valuations of the haul suggested €10 million, then €40 million, then €100 million. By the time the gentlemen in question received their record prison sentences a few short weeks ago, authorities had put the value of the haul as exceeding €440 million. It is certainly a record for our part of the world.

440m yoyos would translate to about 750m Aus. dollars. Yaaay! We win!

(The various figures are hilarious. The idea of your average country Garda dressing up in his finest "undercovers" to enquire on the street corner what the going rate is... :p)

About fell out of my chair! :p
Amazing how the littlest things can ruin the best laid plans. ;)

Hope the cops aren't dumb enough to flush all that down the toilet. There'd be some crazy ass people lazying about the next day.
Lets hope the police officers aren't as senseless as the people they chase! :p

Agree with whooleytoo. The numbers are hilarious. So is the story. And yes, the idea of the average country Garda donning appropriate "undercovers" while making discreet enquiries as to going rates also raises a smile.

However, I seem to recall a slight degree of official caginess re the actual size of the haul and its possible stated worth when the original rescue/seizure took place. And it does beg questions about how many such hauls actually are successfully smuggled through (I suspect far more than tend to be acknowledged) - as it was, this lot were only caught by a combination of appalling weather and spectacular incompetence on their own part. Cheers.

Wow, never thought something would be cheaper in the UK, £5 is too much but normal for a pill, they go as low as £1 each though...

I wonder why that is. Does no-one make 'em in Oz? Perhaps they have to get them all imported... seems like a good market to go in and undercut !!

That's presumably what they were trying to do, MDMA is very cheap in europe, most of it is manufactured in countries where the authorities don't keep a good eye on who buys the requisite precursors.

Austrailia apparently leads the world with it's MDMA use, so even this huge amount would only last a few months, they typically cease ~12 tonnes a year of the stuff, imagine what actually gets through!

And gay men and ravers everywhere cry... :D :p

Not me- that s*** ruins people's lives. I watched a former roommate and several other people I care about go down that road. I'm all for legalizing drugs- but ecstasy, meth, Special K, and GHB are BS. They're extremely dangerous (and not that good anyway), and anyone dumb enough to get hooked on any of them is gonna go down a very, very bad road.

If you think an experience on MDMA is "not that good" then you've clearly either never tried the stuff or have very odd brain chemistry, The Meth high is also fairly well known to be *incredible*, I've never touched the latter for many many obvious reasons myself but to deny that it's an incredible high is frankly deluded. Ket I have a strong dislike for simply due to watching the physical effects on those I've seen on the stuff, they probably wouldn't do it if it wasn't fun but I still think it's retarded, GHB I have no experience of and have no desire to either.

The thing with drugs is that they can be and often are absolute great fun, people wouldn't do them if they were pants. To deny this is just silly. I'm not saying that they're without consequences all of them if taken in excess and some even if only dabbled in will *utterly* screw you up and perhaps leave you dead if you're lucky or insane trapped in a hellish psychosis if you're not.

I've often wondered if drugs were legalised (and if the negative stigma around them was diminished) would pharmaceutical companies - with all the skills and resources they possess - be able to devise newer, better recreational drugs without the addictive and harmful effects. It would be an enormous money-spinner for them.
