Well said Canadianipad but the problem is you are going to see the same botched launch that we saw in the US. Long lines, limited supply and long wait times to get one. The US is currently at 4 to 5 weeks for new orders. I ordered mine on the 11th and it is still in shipping and if I'm very lucky I might see it on the 24th. That's 13 days from the day I ordered and I was one of the first orders. Apple underestimated or was unprepared, I don't know which but it is making them look bad.

Then factor in the scalpers who will also be in Canada to purchase Ipads at launch and ship them overseas. The demand is huge for this thing and you would think a global company like Apple would have a better idea on how to launch a product like the Ipad. I think you will be just as frustrated as your friends in the US after the 25th.

Yup, I have no doubt it'll be the same. In fact, I think Canadians and people from then other countries will start with the 4-5 weeks shipping even if they order it online on the 25th. There will be just as much frustration. But, you can't not just ship. Just have to keep getting the devices out as quickly as they can be made.

Apple does not want to delay the launch because it would look bad to investors and the stock price would drop. Bottom line.

:apple: shafted Europeans on the original iPad by pushing the launch date due to unforeseen US demand. It would be a bit rich to do it for a second time in the space of 9 months.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; nb-no) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

I know for a fact the norwegian launch is delayed. Dunno with other european countries

But the US *is* the center of the Apple selling universe and that's all that matters. Sixty percent of iPads and iPhones are sold over here and an even higher percentage of Macs are sold.

The sales numbers actually state the opposite.

Worldwide sales account for 51%.

When Apple launched iPad 1, they saw many of those activated outside of the USA. They used that data to estimate how many they could sell at launch in those countries. If people are going to export them, Apple might as well do it themselves. That gets them to users quicker, keeps them happy, keep them from buying competing tablets, and gets them buying apps quicker which makes Apple more money. I bet Apple makes more money on the iPads in many of those countries than they do in the USA too. It is always about the money.

Don't forget that the dollar is weaker against the Euro than when the iPad 1 launched. That has a huge effect on profitability.

Yeah, again the issue is much less launching world wide than it is just plain rushing the launch to get something better against the Xoom and beat other tablets like the Playbook and HPs to the market.

They just launched way before they had enough product made to remotely come close to satisfying launch demand.

Hopefully they'll do a better job of that next time. The longer people have to wait, the sooner that free advertising form the long launch lines becomes negative PR from customers disgruntled over the hassle of getting one in a timely manner. Especially if the light bleed issue ever becomes more than grumbling on forums.

I understand that this is a global board and that Apple is a global company but is it really necessary to dilute the available stock across the planet when you can't satisfy the demand in the US at this time? Why not delay the global launch and get some of the orders filled here before you ship everything overseas?

Why do you think you deserve Apple products more?

Because this is the way Apple does it. They create a frenzy for their product by not having enough stock at product launch. That gets their new "gizmo" in the news when folks line up for blocks down 5th Avenue in New York and at other Apple stores, to buy one. Genius marketing, actually.

alright 1 who gives a **** about nintendo and 2 there a japanese company technically apple is based in cupertino even though its products are made oversees its an american company which therefore them catering to us first makes sense

See and you clearly don't get it. Yes Apple is an American company, but the dollar is weak. That means Apple can make waaaayyyy more money selling it to other countries.

Apple = America, but Apple <> stupid.
