Worst Accidents With Your Macs

When I was 13 I unjured an eggshell iMac G3 at my fathers office.. I was tilting it over to see the underside when BOOM - CRUNCH it fell off the desk.

The plastic case cracked but besides that it seems to work fine.

May I ask what the eggshell one looked like? Seriously, I don't have a clue...

It saw the specs for Snow Leopard and lost the will to live, realizing that it's going to have to work EVEN HARDER than before, when that comes out!

I did a hard drive transplant in my MacBook Pro, and i could not get the top case back on by the superdrive area(top case is the keyboard, trackpad etc.) so then my father comes over and tries.... but when he did he put full force on the superdrive and case and SQUISHED the drive and case where it is at.

thanks to my friend at apple cupertino, he got me a brand new one to replace the old one. now the old one is a media center in my friends car.

I also did a hard drive transplant on my new one. Went smooth, everything was fine, and my dad did not come near it, in fact he wasn't even home.

sorry i didn't take any pictures of it, i wish i did tho, to let other people know how careful you have to be when you do hdd transfers in the MBPs.
 
Last year, when my son was 3, he got a hold of my Mighty Mouse. I think he spiked it like a football. My wife called me at work to tell me that he had killed my mouse. I asked how bad was it. She said it's in pieces, 7 to be exact.

I tried the pixel massage, hopeful that it wil fix my stuck pixel, and now there's a dark shadow around the pixel. Very annoying. Looks like screen burn in or something
 
A TSA agent at JFK very kindly dropped my 12" PowerBook while doing an extended double secret security screening on me. Dropped off the tabletop about three feet down to the ground, with the impact primarily striking the left rear corner where the ethernet and Firewire plugs are. Aside from a minor warpage in the case at the point of impact, no damage. The TSA goons were blown away. 😉

What happened? Looks like a burn or something, or like some of the coating flaked away?

Did you file a claim with the TSA?
 
I bought a PowerMac G5 from a member on this forum about two years ago and it was damaged during shipment:

The person I purchased it from did not insure it unfortunately. 🙁 Luckily, it still turned on fine and worked, so my uncle helped me get the case somewhat fixed up... Had to drill some screws in to hold it in place:

You should've seen the look on my face when it was delivered. Funny thing is the FedEx guy that delivered it is the one who dropped it right on my stairs! Rang my doorbell and ran off.. I opened the door and saw a bunch of styrofoam all over my stairs and a little mark on the stairs where he dropped it. Awesome.

'Shadows' on an LCD are generally caused by pressure damange, possibly caused by 'massaging' too hard.

I couldn't help this but my bedroom is downstairs. A pipe upstairs blew and the ceiling came down on my pour G4 mini. The inside was filled with water. Insurance is a wonderful thing! Got a new Intel from insurance.
 
seeing as i repaired service net machines for awhile i saw a few interesting ones.
We had a brand new macbook that was run over and crash.

A macbook pro that was dropped down the stairs and in about 4 peices

another macbook pro that was run over by a car but it basically bent to the shape of the wheel.

Thats just a few i remember seeing there were some other ridiculous ones i saw though

Last year at a party someone had a PowerBook G4 opened on the bed installing something. Some slutty guy and a slutty girl went into that room to do something on the bed. These idiots closed the powerbook, and stepped on it. There was a shoe print on it (just dirt, wiped off fine). The LCD had a very light shadow as the result. I was surprised the LCD didn't crack.

(no, i was not the powerbook owner, nor was I the people on the bed).

Next time, break on straight road before heading into the curve.
Once in the curve, let go of gas and no heavy breaking (light breaking if necessary, but if the car starts to losing control, let go of the break, unless you know how to steer in the correct way).

I almost lost control on icy surface in a curve once, but steered into the turn and recovered.
 
I got stuck in a REALLY rain storm on Thursday night while in Tucson where I was drenched to the bone. Well, my iPhone was in my front pocket and now its permanently locked. I can't access numbers 7-0 as well as the slider. So, yes, my iPhone experiences water damage.

Luckily, I got the new iPhone today. <phew>
