Worst / Best Activation Times

(Preface: if this was already discussed elsewhere, please mods, feel free to close this thread 🙂 )

I was just curious and wanted to take an informal poll:

What is your best / worst activation time?
(Please include whether you were opening a new line or were transferring a line & from which service)

Me: New line, still waiting since 9PM EST today.😡
 
My little brother: 16 Hours (first to be activated on same computer as the others)
Mine: 6 Hours (2nd to be activated on same computer)
Older brother: 6 Minutes (3rd on same computer)


It was shockinggg.

Wow 😱 It's just like a crap shoot or something. That just means anything goes with at&t. On the same computer though - I find that really odd and shocking. One would think that it would just be the same for all. It must be some stupid queue thing up on the at&t servers. 😕
 
Transfered two phones on a Sprint family plan to a family plan with AT&T.

My phone iTunes first then my parteners added to the family plan via iTunes:

My phone: 19 hours (3 of which I was on the phone with Sprint*)
My partners phone: 6 minutes (he got an incoming call!)


*Sprint admitted to me it was their fault
 
New AT&T customer getting a new number (no transfer). Took about 2 minutes to activate and this was on Friday night at 8 PM Pacific time.

Damn - and here I was sulking thinking this was some BS that at&t was putting up for new line activations. Still waiting here @ 3:35 AM EST. I need to go to bed. G'night all!
 
Don't think there are good/bad times. There are too many variables that can disrupt the process.
I had a dreaded "not eligible for iPhone" notice. After 24 hours of problems due to a "Business Acct", maybe 6 hours on the phone with reps, we handled problems and transferred 3 lines to a New acct (still in Business name - Yay!).

Rep warned me that activation could take a very long time. She stayed on with me to make sure I got through the 1st steps.
It took about 1 min. She was shocked. I think having a "clean" account helped. This was Sat 9pm PST.
 
well mine took like 6 minutes, but i still cannot receive incoming calls, stilling waiting for that text message and it has been about 24 hours ughhh

About 15-20min for mine and a friend's, Friday around 9pm PDT.

Less than 5min late last night for my wife's.

All were replacing current AT&T phones, keeping same number and voice plans.
 
bought the phone at 6pm on Friday and went right how to activate. took a maximum of 3 minutes, probably less, before the phone was 100% working correctly. although i've been an AT&T/Cinulgar customer for over 4 years.
 
I was transferring my # from alltel. Mine took about 5 minutes total to set up the account. At that point, I could make calls and send text messages coming from my #, but I couldn't recieve calls on the iphone yet. It took about 24 hours to start receiving calls.
 
It took about 10 minutes each to do my and my wife's phones. That includes transfering phone numbers from Sprint. I did it at about 7:30 EDT on Friday, so I think I beat the rush.
 
Mine took under 2 minutes BUT I am a current ATT customer and there were no restrictions (business, family plan, etc) on my account.

total time to register ~5 min. absolutely simple. I did it around 6:45 pm EST on friday

Current Cingular customer, only took about 2 minutes per phone.

That included the shut off of my existing phone.
