On Mojave, both can be downloaded. It says GET on the App store, and it opens System Preferences/Software Update, asks if I want to download Mojave (or High Sierra), and then starts downloading.

Once the installer has downloaded, software update returns to offer "Upgrade Now" to macOS Catalina.

In High Sierra downloads should be from the app store, I believe. It doesn't do that?

was updating to 10.14.6

Until then everything was wonderful now I get the dreaded spinning ball at almost every key click, well almost!

Most annoying in the mail, trying to put a web link in, won't, just goes into the ball and I have to do a heard reset to get it back working.

Any suggestions please? I've run Onyx and Malwarebytes.

Can you restore from a backup?

Current build is 18G103

One step better than trying the combo update would be to do a complete re-install with the full installer over your current installation (not a clean install).

That's why I always download the full installer for the very last build of any OS that apple makes available. It's a great way to wipe out any OS weirdness that may be going on.

Also, that way I can use it to make a bootable installer USB and put the OS on another machine down the road even once that OS version is no longer available from Apple.

Keep the full installer children ... you will thank me for that advice.
Thanks! I will give it a try!

I just finished downloading the full 6.04gb 10.14.6 Mojave installer - it's still build 18G103

I downloaded from the link supplied by The Man https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-mojave/id1398502828?ls=1&mt=12

Yukari : First check to ensure that you don't have ANY Mac OS installers in your Applications folder

Don't start App Store just click on the above link the App Store will open automatically - at least it did for me.

If you CAN download it .. save it somewhere safe on another HDD / SSD for safekeeping.

Can you still download Mojave now that Catalina is out, though? I need 32 bit support, so no Catalina. Mojave is fine. But the new iTunes removes the ability to backup iOS apps. There are workarounds by installing an older version of iTunes, though.
Well, thats a pickle. There are some underground sites where you can download it, but I dont think I would be allowed to post a link here.

Your situation is why I am personally ALWAYS vigilant about downloading and SAVING the last version of most OS installers. Especially with Mojave, I made sure to download and save the very last build (18G103) and make backups of it in late September.

If you have a dropbox I could put that in a folder for you. Just instant message me.
Thank! However, I downloaded it last year and tried it on a spare SSD, it wasn't ready so I didn't go with it. The Mojave download is still sitting in my Applications folder so I'm good to go!

Always best to move the installer out of the application folder. Once you use the installer for any install, and if it's in the app folder, it gets automatically deleted afterwards.

I usually create a bootable USB stick with it and load that way. That's why it is still in my applications folder.

I don’t have any installer on my Application folder.

I don’t know why it’s not working for me.

I try it again later.

If you downloaded it last year, its and early version and not 10.14.6, so its kind of useless

No it still works it just goes through all the iterative updates afterwards. Better than downloading another 6 gigabyte file. I keep older OS on file in case I need them and they all can still load properly. it just takes time to go through all the updates to the latest version of that OS.

Wow, I just crawled out from under a rock. I just saw that there is now Mac OS Catalina. I'm still on High Sierra.

I have two 2012 (13" and 15") i7 machines.

I was considering upgrading.

Is Mojave stable or does it still suck somewhat?

It sucks. I also have a 2012 13" machine and I got the spinning ball a lot on Mojave. Also Mojave lacks cover flow which was very good. Catalina is even worse no iTunes and a really lousy Apple Music app

My MBP is running 10.14.6
Just tried to connect my iPhone SE running 13.1.3 but the MBP does not recognise it. Just keeps saying "A software update is necessary to connect to my phone".

If it means update to Catalina then it's out of luck as after all the horror stories I've read about it I will not - for the foreseeable future.

Guess I can't connect my two Apple Products!!

I don't think it's asking you to install Catalina. I can still connect both our iPhones (7+ and 8) to my iMac and I'm running 10.14.6 same as you. Did you install the 2 supplemental updates to Mojave? Is your iTunes up to date?

Done that, made no difference :(

It may be a failing hard drive. Best to check the S.M.A.R.T status.

To do that open Disk Utility and right click on your hard drive in the left hand column - that should be the physical disk and not the Mojave volume created upon. In the context menu, select Get Info and scroll to the bottom of the info window that will open. It should say SMART status - verified. Alternatively, you can click on the Apple icon on the left of your display menu and click on About This Mac. Click then on System Report and then select Storage from the list of items. SMART status will be displayed on the right when you select your hard drive above. If it says failing, then it is time to back up and replace your hard drive PRONTO!

If you want a more detailed report on the condition of your hard drive, you could try downloading DriveDx. That comes with a 15 day trial, which should be enough for your purposes. It is very thorough in its reports.

This is of, course, if you can get any app to run on your machine. I'm guessing either your hard drive or a RAM stick is faulty. Faulty RAM can really screw up your software, requiring a complete reinstall once the offending memory is removed/replaced.

The whole point is NOT to use any of the COMBOS or SUPPLEMENTALS.

The current build 18G103 10.14.6 download presumably has ALL the lastest and to date, final upgrades in it.

So what if the 6.05 gb download takes a long time > Start it just before going to bed.

There have been quite a lot of posts regarding kernel panics, shutdown after waking from sleep. You are risking that happening to your cMP.

+1. Couldn’t agree more.

So what you're saying is if I download an install an OS at the time of release, it is better to download the entire thing every time an update is provided instead of installing the iterative updates that are provided?

Nope. But DO save the very last full build of an OS, in this case Mojave 10.14.6 build 18G103. You dont need to save every iteration in between, but holding onto a full install of the very last version of any particular release can be useful.

First off, doing the install of the .0 release plus any updates is slower. Also you’re counting on the updates ALWAYS be available when you want to do said install.

Bottom line, holding onto the one and only FINAL full installer release of a particular OS is much slicker, and less subject to the vagaries of Apples updates or your internet connection when you want to do a new full installl on a computer system.

See my thread here: Downgraded to Mojave, best thing I ever did!

NO, I always wait untill the LAST release. I NEVER use Combos or Supplementals . . . they are all included i n the last OFFICIAL release . .in this build build 18G103 Mojave 10.14.6

Read my post #42 again.

==============================================

I recommend the following.

FIRST !
Remove any / all Mac OS installers from your Applications folder = move it to another external hard drive . . anywhere. EXCEPT your Applications folder. Title the folder "Mojave OLD installer "

==============================================
Second

Download Mojave 10.14.6 FULL installer ( it will take a while to download )
This link will connect direct to the Apple servers

After it is downloaded the Mojave installer will pop up asking you to install.
Don't agree YET.

Make a new folder somewhere on ( preferably on a different hard drive ) your Mac titled "Mojave 10.14.6 FULL 18G103 installer" . . . . copy the installer to this folder

==============================================
Third
Now
you can install Mojave 10.14.6 build 18G103.

Install it to a different drive formatted to APFS.

The download is 6.05 Gb and is Build no. 18G103 = latest 10.14.6 full installer.
Don't install any 3rd. party apps yet.

Run the newly installed Mojave 10.14.6 build 18G103 to test for stability.

Check "wake from sleep". and whatever was bothering you before. All prior problems should be gone.

If you don't understand this post and post #42 .. . give up.

===============================================

If you get Carbon Copy Cloner you can CLONE this fresh, clean install to an HFS+ formatted SSD

I did this and everything works perfectly, no issues at all.

Here is the direct link from Apple for Mojave:
Thanks for both - I like to keep the previous version installers, just in case. I generally keep the original installer and the final combo but these will do much better.

Stay away from Catalina.

BTW: I just upgraded to Mojave from El Capitan yesterday, so far no problems. It took about two hours and my computer rebooted several times before it was complete. (The installation warns you that it restart several times during installation.)

I'm on High Sierra 10.13.6. I removed previous OS installers from the Applications folder and when I click your link it takes me to the App Store page for Mojave. I click the "Download" button, but it only downloads a 22MB file (not 6GB). Apparently that file then launches and gives me the option of setting up the install and I click the only option which is "Continue." But then I'm presented with an "Agree" / "Don't Agree" selection, and my assumption is that if I click "Agree" it's going to go ahead with the installation (which I don't want), not just the download (which I do want). Can anyone clear this up for me? I just want to download the full 10.13.6 build 18G103 installer.

Thanks a lot.

Put your glasses on . .. 😇

You just posted the link . . . It's in your post #49

1. Check your applications folder . . .if there is a " Install Mac OS " file there .. remove it to somewhere = perhaps to a new folder you can name as " OLD Mojave Installer ".

2. Click on this direct link to the Apple servers
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-mojave/id1398502828?mt=12

I just checked this and it is still an active working link .. it will open the App Store - you will see the "GET" button in the top right corner of the webpage.

PS : after the download the installer will pop up and ask you if you want to install Mojave . . don't do that yet . . . SAVE a COPY of the Mojave installer to a folder somewhere ( not in Applications folder ! ) you name as "Mojave 10.14.6 build 18G103 ".

Now you can run the Mojave installer from your Applications folder.
