Worst thing I've ever had done to me is having a good friend of mine sleep with my girlfriend, and pretty much catch them doing it. Totally, totally unexpected. I loved them both, and we'd all been really close.

That's probably the worst feeling of pain, betrayal, and anger I've ever felt in my whole life. It's definitely the first time I've experienced that physical pain that comes from the worst emotional blows. I actually felt like everything around me suddenly went into slow motion. Anyway. I'm not sure I've ever totally recovered from that, I am constantly having to make sure that experience doesn't affect my relationships since.

Man that's awful :/ I can't even begin to imagine how that must feel. Being cheated on is my worst fear :/

The worst thing that happened to me was my vasectomy operation - one side went fine, but by the time they came to snip the second tube the anaesthetic had begun to wear off. I realised I'd got feeling back and asked the doctor "Should I be able to feel anything".

He just said "No" and snipped away anyway. I've never felt pain like it in my life and was trying to climb off the table while a couple of nurses pinned me down and the docs pumped syringe after syringe of anaesthetic into me so they could finish the op!

They eventually got finished and the doctor came up with the helpful advice that certain anaesthetics are ineffective on some people and I was just one of the unlucky ones!

Unfortunately, my problems were only just beginning: Three days after the op, the stitches on one side burst open and I ended up with an infection and a hemotoma that was bigger than my testicles. In all, I was off work for 3 months and had it was another 3 before I could wear anything except jog pants.

Don't let anyone tell you a vasectomy is a minor op!
:eek::eek:
Severe sympathetic shrivelling here.

yep thats correct, that guy was hilarious in the movie.

Yeah I've like the him and his family every since "In Living Color".

I think I liked him the best in "Don't be a menace to society, while drinking your juice in the hood" and my wife really liked "white chicks".

I'm glad I don't need to kill my swimmers!

I think the saddest thing I've ever witnessed was when a baby mouse wandered into my bedroom, sickly and stumbling. I put it on the table and tried to give it some food/water to help, but it just fell over and started breathing really shallow. I watched helplessly as it slowly stopped breathing and died. It was so sad.

Ha, snip, pun definitely intended! :D

My surgery went well with no pain or feeling at all. However, I have a friend who had an experience like yours. He said it was like "a lightening bolt struck him in the balls and then someone let loose a pair of angry beavers in his nutsack". I still laugh every time he tells the story and uses that quote. He says it's a conspiracy where all men say the surgery is easy because if they told the truth then no one would ever do it. When any of us say our surgery was easy he calls us liars. :)

A man on motorcycle hit by a truck on a lonely, dark road - motorcycle's engine and lights on, man lying down at the side with his brain popped out.

Did not ride a motorcycle after that for 6 months - it still traumatizes me to this date.

oh man the thought of this just makes me shudder

Dear lord... I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle, but I hear too often of motorcyclists getting hit (especially in my community) and not surviving.

The '86 challenger explosion.

I am far too young to have seen that happen live, but it gives me chills watching videos of it.

I personally am blessed to not have had witnessed anything as gruesome as some of these stories that I have read in this thread, but I have a story that I think is pretty gruesome that happened to one of my friend's co-workers. My friend's was a driver at a local Papa Johns, and he was just about to leave the store and turn out onto the road (this was at night, and this is a generally traffic free road), and a motorcyclist was going twice the speed limit (45 mph zone), and the driver didn't see him and pulled out right as the motorcyclist was coming. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected from the motorcycle, and injured beyond recognition after the crash (he was not wearing a helmet).

I'm not really sure what's the worst that ever happened to me, though I have some ideas... However - in the worst cases, my own, subsequent embitterment has harmed me even worse than each action itself. I know that the highest possible gain one can get from resentment and bitterness, is equal to zero - but old habits die hard.

Let's just say they're lucky I wasn't armed.

Gruesome-wise, I was nibbled by a shark while surfing in Australia. I still have a smallish scar on my arm from it, though it's mostly faded now and hard to see. Nothing like feeling a weird pinch and then seeing a little fin and your own blood in the water. I'm pretty sure I swam faster than Michael Phelps back to shore.

That is horrible, I've never been cheated on and I hope it doesn't happen but I can just imagine the feeling, especially when it's a friend and girlfriend.

Why does it matter what colour her skin was?

us human's do it to help paint a picture in other people's minds. just like authors do it in a book, it's no different than a forum.

should've ignored the fact that she was in her 30's, cause that can be interpreted as ageist somehow

should've ignored the fact that it was a freeway, cause who the hell cares

should've ignored the fact that the car was going 80mph

maybe even ignored the fact that the poster was grossed out

I didn't witness it die, but when I was on my trip in Israel, my group was walking on our way to ride camels. On the way, we saw a dead dog that was under an overpass. It had no eyeballs, it's forearm bone was sticking out of its arm. It was crushed flat, presumably from a car that was travelling on the overpass. Also in the same area was a dead cat, but I didn't get a good look at it. The stench was terrible!

Scariest thing I've done/seen: I was riding on the local bike path going at around 22mph. There was a large industrial trashcan on the left side of the path, so I couldn't see anyone coming. As I got closer, I still saw nobody from around the trashcan, so I decided to pass the trashcan. As I passed it, a couple road cyclists travelling at 25+mph also passed it from the opposite direction. I could feel the male (there was a male and a female cyclist, presumably together) cyclist's arm hair on my arm. It was terrifying.

Worst thing I've done: I was riding the path on a downhill part. I came to a turn, where I normally just take a narrow turn and cross into the opposite direction's lane. There were people coming from the opposite direction, so I couldn't take a narrow turn like I wanted. I was going at 30+mph, so I had to think quick. I slowed down as much as I could, but I still took too wide of a turn and got into the dirt on the side of the path. Since I have 28mm slick tires with no tread whatsoever, I stayed upright for about 10ft and then lost control and fell. I probably slid on the ground after falling for another 5-10ft. I have clipless pedals (relatively new, so I am still getting used to them), which hold my feet to the pedals. I couldn't get my feet off of the pedals to stabilize myself, so I just fell on my left side of my body with both of my feet and both of my hands on the bike. I think that was the best thing I could've done, because if I stuck my arm out, I probably could have broken it. My left shoulder hurt for a week, but after that I was fine. Also, had I not been wearing long sleeves and my knickers (full-length spandex pants) as opposed to my short sleeve jersey and shorts, I probably would have had terrible road rash with sand and dirt embedded in my skin.

I was born and raised in a railroading town, next to the train tracks (Flagstaff Arizona) and there are countless time I have seen accidents involving trains and cars or pedestrians. I could only imagine how the conductors feel behind the throttle. The worst was when an elderly couple came to visit, and went the wrong way down a one way street. A train was coming and of course the barriers on their side of the road was gone, so they got hit. One of the occupants died, and it was their 77th birthday. I saw the car get hit at first, than dragged down the length of track. Both the train and car took out a wrought iron fence close to the train station.

The survivor decided that they wanted to sue the city for inadequate warning signs (Despite the large red "Wrong Way" sign on their side of the road) but the case got thrown out of court. The thing is, two years prior the roads used to be two way, and recently got changed.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who suffered :D

I saw a guy on a motorcycle slide into the cable barriers they have here along the highway. Destroyed the bike and he went flying into the air like a rag doll. I stopped and called 911 and went over to him to see if he was still alive. His right leg was broke at the knee and lower leg and foot were rotated 180 degrees from where it should have been.
He was laying face down in the grass breathing very deep and quick at the same time but it also sounded wet. I believe he broke his face and was bleeding into his lungs. The helmat he was wearing was cracked in half but still attached to his head.

I didn't stay around to see them airlift him but I did see them roll him over onto a board. He started groaning very loudly but I don't know if he was conscious. His face was bright red and a little swollen. I gave my info to the state trooper and told him I witnessed the wreck. They never called me and I never found out if the guy lived or not.

I am a strong opponent of those stupid cable barriers. They destroy vehicles so easily. Semi trucks (lorry) go right through them no problem.

My life has been pretty uneventful in this way. For which I'm very glad. Some of this more serious stuff can mess you up.

I think my testicles needs to re-descend all over again

Perhaps they were a little too close. That's painful mate. :(

Worst injury I suffred: I fell directly on the chin, needed 3 stitches. Pretty mild stuff, altough I can't grow a nice goatee because of the scar (I tried, but there's no hair and I can't hide it).

Worst injury I witnessed: a guy falling on the side while riding a bike and trying to absorb the shock with his hand. Open wrist/forearm fracture. It wasn't nice to see, luckily we were pretty close to the hospital (maybe 500-600 meters).

Nothing too extreme, which I guess is something I can be thankful of. :)

Others on this forum have served, for example, in the military, and I expect they, too, have witnessed things they would rather not have seen, cannot quite forget, but, perhaps, would prefer to.
Those who have been on active duty in recent years have probably seen far worse than we can describe here. They have my respect. I theorize that those who have seen such horrors are not likely to re-visit them and describe them here. No offense to those describing their experiences here, I'm just saying I'm sure that, while traumatic to those experiencing them, they likely pale in comparison to the nightmares lived repeatedly by those who are not posting in this thread.

However, even before that, for a middle class female academic, who reads books and wears glasses, I have seen some strange and deeply disturbing things: I have witnessed at least two murders in broad daylight in two different European capitals in two different years; I saw to my stupefied disbelief a toddler falling to what was her death from a balcony several floors up (I was on the street and was the one who phoned emergency services), and also happened on the the aftermath of a drowning by suicide (again, was the person who phoned emergency services). Each of these events happened in broad daylight, and, my initial thought every time was that I really could not believe that I was seeing what I actually was seeing. But I was.
Remind me to stay away from you...

AFAIK(or remember)

1. I was riding a bike downhill, racing a car(ikr?). It was in a compound so the road had road bumps. Approaching one at a very fast speed. Completely forgot that my back brakes were dead. So i used my front's instead. Tip over and landed somehow face+side. Cheeks were complete bleeding and also some parts of forehead. Forearm also bleeding. Luckily i didnt break anything.

2. I was in the car with my parents sitting on my mom's lap while my dad was driving. We were on an elevated highway which was 3-4 stories tall. A drunk driver cut in front of us causing my dad to turn immediately. Hit the side and almost broke the concrete barriers(front of the car was totaled but the concrete stayed), then bounced out to the middle of the highway. And now im here.
