 and its happened before. The Chinese Government must realise they have a problem?

That's amazingly bad.

(I think this belongs in the Current Events section, though)

Some drivers have complained of price gouging. One truck driver, identified by his last name Huang, told the Global Times that "instant noodles are sold at four times the original price while I wait in the congestion.
Wonderful, Capitalism @ it's finest in a communist country

Roadworks??

Really??

Are they sure they're not just building the road in front of them as they go?

9 days! They don't do things by half in China. Get driving America or Russia, we can't let those Chinese win.

I have been in similar traffic....

one time on June 2009 on my way from LA to Las Vegas....

There was a horrible car accident on the I-5 that I recalled speding 3 hours in traffic. Traffic was stopped completly that everybody turned off their cars and got outside at the 115 degree temperatures and started playing soccer, taking pictures, sitting down in the freeway...

I would say traffic was backed up for a good 15-20 miles.

I dont see how "The Red Dragon" can ever awaken if their infrastructure is so laughable right now.

Expand beyond their means a little too quickly?
