Worth Buying a MB?

So new macbooks are supposed to be coming right? Would they be out before or after the free ipod sale ends?

I'd hate to get a macbook now, only to find my favorite features like the multitouch and blacklit keys are suddenly put into the next version.

Your guess is as good as anyone's. No one really knows. Everything on here is "Rumor", thus the name of the site. If you Need one, get it. Otherwise, if you can hold off, wait. Me, I bought a while back, because I got tired of the "Today's the day!!!" thing, only to never see it.

I'm getting a refurb Macbook in the next couple of weeks to go with my new Air - they seem like solid little machines!

Refurb is the way to go, My refurb 2.2 is the best computer I have evah had!
And I have had and built quite a few, 4 GB of Ram this more than runs my business,my life, and all the computing aspects that goes with todays lifestyle. Since switching, 7 of my friends have gone the refurb BMB Apple way, and none of us are looking back. Everyone of us agree the time was right for a switch to :apple: The INTEL Chipsets brought us on board. outside of a copy of MS Office for the Mac, none of us are dual booting Windoze.
GO :apple::D

If you don't mind sacrificing an optical drive, Ethernet, or firewire and are ok with a low power processor, one USB port, non-replaceable battery, non-upgradable RAM, and a higher price tag, then get the Air.

I make it sound crappy, but in truth it has plenty of power for most basic computing needs. However, in my opinion, the Macbook is a thin enough alternative that has more USEFUL features and power.

Do you own a Macbook? Or are you commenting on what people posted here? I have a white MB, and it's fine. No issues, no cracking. Granted, an HP 8340, or Lenovo TP are better, in terms of how rugged they are. But I carry mine everywhere. You need to remember it's a laptop, not a book you toss around. You treat it well, it'll last a long time. Oh, and I have no idea what you mean by "stains"? Do you wash your hands often? Or eat a lot of Cheetos?

well said TMELVIN, It's like anything else, respect the equipment it'll last forever. if you toss it around, bounce it off the bed into a night stand, what do you expect. MY BMB is running my business, it resides in it's Case-Mate leather case, goes everywhere, and has zero issues;)

Thanks. I have the white one, same speed [2.2] w/4MB. Wanted the black, just couldn't swing the extra cash at that time. But I'm not disappointed at all. I love working on my laptop now, where as before it was a chore...

... but even so thats $1100 towards a laptop when I already have one

Just a thought, have you considered selling your current laptop and putting that toward a new MacBook? I agree it could be difficult to justify having two portables.
