Well, regardless of whether the OP was sincere, I just actually made this upgrade. (edit: to regular XS, not Max)

It's not been all that mindblowing, I adapted pretty quickly--but the fact that apps run faster (and that I can install some newer apps) is cool. Multitasking was almost impossible with the 4s at this point. Beyond that, the fact that I can take shareable photos is cool. The bigger screen is potentially helpful.

The 'pickup to wake' and Face ID stuff is interesting UI.

Messed around with animoji but don't see myself using it.

I think I'll perhaps start using Siri and/or Google Assistant. Perhaps health-related apps too. I guess the biggest change is that with better performance and more hardware/sensors the actual methods and purposes for which you use the phone changes.

Been waiting for a bigger revolution to be honest. Skipped the generations of other form factors because there was not much in it. Bit better here and there. Any other folks considering to move from 4s to the new Xs Max? Or you think in the next 2, 3 or 4 years we will see something radically different?
You're like me, I went from a 5S to an XS Max. FYI, The Max is a heavy phone, a bit large overall from what I'm use to, the 5S. I've been dwelling on the idea of giving the XS Max to my mom, taking her 6 Plus, then maybe, early next year upgrade that to the XS. I'm hoping a Product Red of the XS gets released.

Personally I'd downgrade the 4S to iOS 6 and keep rolling with that.

With how much I use my phone these days, it would be more than sufficient.

Using max is a very uncomfortable experience compared to 4s

Go for it....just be prepared for a little vertigo while you adjust ;)

Your recent thread and other posts of yours indicate you have a Xs already?

Yes, the XS Max is even a bit heavy for me now that I bought it, and I'm coming from 6S Plus (a much easier adjustment than 4S or the 5S).

More updates about going from 4s to XS

The fact that I can't operate apps one-handed is annoying. I learned about the 'Reachability' setting but maybe I'll just get used to it.

I don't miss the home button, got used to just using the bottom of the screen pretty instantly. The haptic feedback stuff is cool.

I've started using the Health app (and other apps it syncs with). Definitely using Siri more.

For some reason I find 'swipe up to unlock' as more tedious than 'slide to unlock' but maybe that's just habit.

People in this thread are surprised the OP doesn’t think the 2 phones are radically different? I thought this forum believed that iPhones are all incremental updates with barely any difference between them.

Are you also wondering if HD is a decent upgrade from that CRT tube from 1995 you’re still hanging on to ?!

In all seriousness I can’t believe this is a legit question. The fact you are indeed asking means it’s not. Seriously. If you are rocking a 7 year old phone then clearly you’ll never use nor care about the features of a new one.

I'm not sure, leaning towards the )standard) XS. You? lol.
LOL... me too - XS. I already gave my parents the XS Max. My mother saw it when I went to go visit telling her I wasn't too happy with it and she took it right off of my hands. I took her 6 Plus for the time being. I'm going to hold off purchasing the XS until next year though - March. I'm hoping a Product Red edition gets released. I just hope I don't convince myself to wait for the iPhone 11 since that will be 6 months away from then. :D

ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME? Is it worth upgrading from the 4S to the Xs-Max? OMFG. I can't believe that's even a question. Please tell me that's a joke, right? If you hold out a few more years, you just might be able to get the implantable iPhone coming in 2025/2030. LOL

No it's not worth it. You should stick with 4s...forever.

"waiting for a bigger revolution"? You mean when we begin to communicate with others telepathically like aliens from a neighboring galaxy called Andromeda? This E.T. still uses an iPhone to call home.
