Definitely would be interested to see photos taken with the new flash but I've never seen photos taken with flash even on high end cameras that look better than natural lighting. Even if the coloring is better, you'll still have the added shadows from the flash if the flash is straight on. Now a larger aperture would allow for the natural photos in dimmer light. I'm not a photographer by any means but I can take some really decent photos with my iPhone and always have the flash turned off.

Without a doubt you're right. I am a photographer (ok, not a professional one but I use pretty high end photography equipment compared to the average person) and I will avoid flash whenever I can. Usually this is accomplished with a tripod and a still subject (and a long shutter speed) but that's really not possible with the iphone (not in my experience). Having said that, sometimes you are out with friends and just want a shot of everyone. Pictures without any flash will be grainy & probably blurry so sometimes I do use the flash even though it's not ideal. Now I'm hoping the flash photos will just look better without needing to run them through Snapseed or something to fix the color.

Personally I think that the flash idea could be useful if the slides they showed are actually accurate and not modified. They don't look as "artificial" as the standard flash does.

I never saw your post before because I didn't realise this had gone onto a third page :p

Looking at the "sample" pictures on here I mean: http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone-5s/camera/

Not worth it. In fact I think the 5 will become more desirable.

iPhone 5C has the same internals as the 5, but you want the look of the iPhone 5S because it's just beautiful. They won't be making the 5 anymore, so new comers would have to get the 5S, but might want the 5C price, which is where the iPhone 5 will be priced for the remainder of the available stock.

I'm staying with my 5 til next year...I can wait to upgrade and hopefully will get either the 32 or 64gb on contract. I can't justify paying $600 for a phone that I don't need...the 5 works great for me. now I would like to upgrade to a newer iPad cause I'm still rocking the original one...but then again the original iPad works well enough for my use right now(Netflix, web browsing and reading books).

I'm upgrading, mainly because I bought the 5 off-contract and so my upgrade is now available. So if I wait a year it will essentially be paying AT&T extra money by not having a phone subsidized and that is the last thing I want to do.

That said I am looking forward to the new camera sensor and Touch ID - once they implement a way for third party apps to authenticate with it. There is so much more they could do with it...

Thanks for all the feedback/replies.... I guess I'll just stick with my 5 and see what the 6 brings :) I'm just getting drawn in by all the hype about 64bit and the FP sensor... I guess the latter is only unlocking the phone and purchasing anyway

By the time there are enough apps available to take advantage of the 64-bit processor, the iPhone 6 probably will be just around the corner. As for the fingerprint sensor, I'm looking forward to that, but not enough to buy an out-of-contract iPhone 5S.

I'm an avid photographer, and, as they say, the best camera is the one you have with you, and that's usually my iPhone 5. So a better camera is always welcome – but, again, I don't take enough critical low-light shots with my iPhone to justify buying an out-of-contract iPhone 5S.

So I'm going to wait for the iPhone 6. Besides, once you pass a certain age, a year goes by subjectively in no time flat. All too soon, iPhone 5S owners will be asking whether they should upgrade to the new iPhone 6.

Honestly no its probably not worth the upgrade if you have a 5. However if you can afford it and want it, then get the 5s. Also depends on if you have an upgrade and care about wasting it before the 6.

The 5c isn't even worth considering if you have a 5 IMO.

For me yes, but only because I've had a few software and hardware issues with the 5 and I'm now out of warranty. Once I sell the 2 phones I currently have, buying the 5S SIM-free from Apple will be cheaper than the cost of a repair/replacement!

Yeah, I like the look of the camera and FPS as you say, but thinlking about it, it isn't enough to spend money on (out of contract)
