Thanks for the links. Now i just have to decode the meaning off all that stuff. lol. Maybe ill just buy the base model and when i save the extra money, sell it for about what i paid for it locally and buy the higher end model.

If your prepared to do that then it may well be worth waiting for the Nehelam laptops. Going by the review so far the chip is MUCH faster so I would expect good things with the laptop version.
So buy the base now, then get a nice fast Nehelam in 2010.

The base MBP is pretty awesome and has more than enough juice for what you need. Extra RAM would be the only thing worth upgrading short term. Save your money and get software, printers, wireless hub (airport) and accessories.

Im definetly getting the nelham laptop whenever it comes out. And im almost positive that i can sell the late 2008 mbp (if i decide to purchase it) for at least 1800-1900.

I bought my MBP at 2.5 weeks old from the marketplace here and paid $1675, no tax, no shipping w. displayport adapter. I think you realistically may be looking at $1400-1700 for a stock config. resale in a few months.

Well here in Florida, people are selling 6 month old to a year and a half old macbook pros for 1700+. SO i know ill get 1700 or greater as i am anal about electronices and take superduper care of them. Plus by that time, ill have upgraded the memory and hd.

^^^ I hear what your saying, just question the common sense. They could buy a brand new - not refurbished - one from Apple w. warranty. Or even cheaper from Amazon or other places:

its hard to say, I have a feeling previous gens will be popular for a while, kinda like the 12" pb's and will fetch high prices bringing the value down on the new ones being sold used
