Are you close to an Apple store? It is worth a shot...

I thought your avatar had got stuck under the screen at first :)

If it's a new phone, I'd definitely ask them to - it may only be a tiny speck but I know I'd find it very annoying.
The fact that it looks like dust stuck under the glass and the glass is bonded to the screen means it must have been done during manufacturing so they should replace it as a defect

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Yeah it's dust they will replace it for free but you should do it before the 30 days because you will get a new phone not a refurbished

No harm in asking. Might as well if you're close to an Apple Store.

Unfortunately the nearest store is a two and a half hour drive one way traffic permitting.

I got the 4S from Belfast. It's out in the republic of Ireland on the 28th. I might give Apple a call after the 28th and see what they say.

If they are willing to replace it I'd just pay the €29 advance replacement fee and get the new phone shipped first.

It's probably that much driving up to Belfast, with the tolls, fuel and parking.

I had 2 or 3 specs like that on a REFURB 27" iMac I bought from Apple online. They replaced it right there in the store with a NEW iMac, no questions asked.

they would probably swap it, but i personally wouldn't make a special trip for that. just do it next time you're in the area.

Yes, next time you're around they'll probably swap it out. Or call Apple and maybe they'll ship you a refurb--you never know.

I haven't yet. I'm wondering if I should wait to do it just before the warranty runs out.

It's just that I hate the gamma on this screen. It's to low, I'd say it's around 1.8 instead of 2.2 which is what my old 4 had.

Go into apple and find out. No one on a forum can give you the answer you're looking for.

    Lol!
.........on topic, yes they will replace. The apple store in the states opened 4 iPad 2's to get me one w/o dust under the screen. The genius said it must have been a bad run at the factory because he kept pulling them from the same batch.
