I am getting a little tired of the Apple views of "we know what's best", but on the other hand I am still mostly happy with the iPhone & iPad (I am however just about ready to ditch my iMac and build my own PC)

Depending on what they end up doing if they remove the headphone jack, I would probably just get an iPhone 6s+ when they discount it and keep it as long as possible

I got 6S+ so right now i'm good. I got ATT Next 24 plan so I can't upgrade until the 7S so I don't have to worry about it for a while. I have so much invested in iphone with apps and iTunes music I worry a switch to Android would make it very difficult to jump ship. At the very least having a new large higher capacity phone means I won't really want to upgrade right away unless it's a dramatic difference so who knows maybe iphone 7 will fail and the apple will correct itself and 7S will be fine, who knows

Yes if there's no adapter. My wife just got me a Bose Quiet Comfort 20 noise cancelling ear bud unit for Christmas and I love them.
If they can't be used with the new iPhone will look elsewhere.

I never use the headphone jack and haven't for years, so no big deal to me at all
I use a bluetooth earpiece when on the phone, and I have bluetooth earphones for the rare occasion I listen to music at the gym
I won't even notice it is gone except for the threads that show up here

Judging by a lot of comments in general from the main thread in the news forum about now headphone jack being heavily rumored with Bluetooth earbuds/ adapter needed

Who here would be tempted to move away from the iPhone in the short term? Maybe get the s7/s7 edge maybe?

How is this rumour affecting your thought on if a change is needed?

Nope I could care less either way, I still like my iPhone over Android, and I use my phone for more stuff but only listed to music via Bluetooth. If they got rid of the ability to use bluetooth for music, that would be a difference story but I highly doubt that would ever happen, since Apple's thing is going Wireless

I ditched Apple after they got rid of the 3.5" floppy drive.

Seriously, having one port on iPod Shuffle works fine. I don't see why it can't work on a smartphone.

Depends on charging. If you can't charge it while using headphones then what.

That's probably what bugs me the most. I want to be able to charge my phone while I use the earbuds. What if I'm on a call and my phone is almost out of juice?

I can't make an informed purchasing decision on a product that is entirely rumour based at this point, but I'm inclined to think that unless the 7 offers some really compelling new features to make up for it, lack of the headphone jack would likely make me stick with my iPhone 6.

I have tried more than a few BT headsets and have yet to find one that has the same quality as my wired set.
Biggest issue though for normal use is the BT in the iPhone itself. My 6S+ does not have the greatest range and frequently has an issue linking to some items. An issue I do not have with my Note 5.
If they drop the headphone jack, I'll keep my 6S+ but migrate away from the iPhone for good.

Note: my 6S+ is a BYOD subsidized work device. However work now supports Android so I have options.

If you aren't using a Bluetooth device with your phone in 2016, you need to just revert back to a flip phone and a Sony Walkman anyway...
After seeing those posts repeated for months around here, I learned to interpret them as "small dogs bark the loudest". Yes Jim, everybody is like you.

I don't know about that one specifically (it's the first one that came up on a search with Anazon). I've got a Samsung one that cost me about £40 and it works brilliantly

64% of us not bothered according to the poll and that's a good starting point. The other 36% will be persuaded relatively quickly.
I imagine as soon as it's out it will sell like normal. I guess it depends how the design is and what extra features it does. Would think it will impress as it isn't an S model afterall.

It depends on what the wired headphone connections look like. If it's bluetooth only, then I have no choice but to abandon the iPhone. It's hard to know without seeing what the new headphone-less product will look like.

Like it or not people if it does not happen on the 7 or 7S it will on the 8.

Life will go on, really.

I also suspect the jack has already been decided! It is "baked in the cake"!

Nope. It will take Apple going out of business for me to switch to Android.

It's an interesting business decision because people will not flock to iPhone because no headphone jack exist but some people will leave iPhone because of the jack. It's different with the portless MacBook because they have other products with ports. We'll see how Apple decides to handle this.

If no headphone jack I will likely replace my 6 with a discounted 6s, if I can find a 128. I'd probably keep that for several years.
