Geez, are you going to argue with people who claim the original Mustang/Corvette is the best Mustang/Corvette ever made and don't qualify their statement? Lots of anal posters on here.

Cars are different. Not a good comparison. Yes, I'm anal, but that's just part of who I am. ;)

Is Mac OS 9.6 still the best Mac OS ever made? No. In all ways, it was inferior to OS 10. THe only thing going for the original iPhone is possibly durability. The iPhone 4 is better in almost every other measurable and comparable category.

Communication is a lost art.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

If you do so concisely, there should be no need to read between the lines.

I still have an original iPhone and I have an iPhone 4 (and a 3G for that matter).

iPhone 4 is about 10,000 x better than the original iPhone.

Durability
1. iPhone

The other three seems like a tie. The 4 is easier to break, but the back might be more resistant to scratches compared to the plastic back of the 3's. The 3's are better to hold and have that bezel where nothing protrudes.

Features/Performance
1. iPhone 4
2. iPhone 3GS
3. iPhone 3G
4. iPhone

Biggest leap
1. iPhone - first to introduce the revolutionary iOS
2. iPhone 4 - Retina Display, biggest leap since original
3. iPhone 3G - App Store, 2G to 3G
4. iPhone 3GS - Compass, video recording, faster

Top favorite based on MR poll
1. iPhone 4 - Most refined iPhone ever
2. iPhone - Most durable and revolutionary
3. iPhone 3GS - Best of the "3" form factor based on performance/features
4. iPhone 3G - 3G upgrade and GPS. Coincided w/ App Store opening

anyone else remember having the original iphone and the keyboard would lag when just typing on safari sometimes :p

LOL :) Those were the days (8th grade)

I think it is. I loved the metal back. Sure it lacks a lot compared to my iPhone 4, but I really liked it. It was my first iPhone. What do you think?

Bud, I think that goes for the rest of us as well. ;)

I'll just say the original will always be classic because it - reinvented the phone:p. My first ever smartphone and even though I use the iPhone 4 now, I still have the original for a treasure.

But as far as features/look it's pretty much dated. (Still could compete with other phones but not the IP4, IMO)

Things are different today than it was back then. The original iPhone basically inspired every phone made after 2007. So it definitely gets major props for that. Definitely belongs in a museum.

Clearly, it lacks the features today's iPhon4/4S has, but yeah, I strongly believe the original iPhone was the best one... that thing was built like a tank!

I wish a third party company would sell a conversion kit to put the guts of an iPhone 4/4S into the shell of an original iPhone. I still use my original iPhone from time to time. By far the most "Apple" of al the iPhones.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Hellllll no! It isn't even close to being the best iPhone! It was the most advanced phone in 2007 and it shocked the world, but it can't even compete with an iPhone 3G.

Agreed. Used true Gorilla Glass and durable Aluminium case. Problem was it had the weakest reception of the line thus far, recessed headphone jack and no 3G. But i still think its the best implementation design wise.

I had a quick look at it when it first came out and the UI was very impressive but I was never tempted to get one due to the lack of features and high price.

I only tried it on the in store static displays and don't know anyone who owned on so I've no idea about the build quality.

I'd say the iPhone 4S is the best iPhone when it comes to features.

The original iPhone is the best iPhone when it comes to durability.

With a 3G? I say it can. The only difference was the 3G radio. I'd actually use a 2G over a 3G any day of the week.

definitely the best looking. imo they should have made all the iPhone's with the option of original casing.
