Oh i would agree and if i had an iPhone 4 i wouldn't be concerned with upgrading.

However i have a 3gs and although iOS 5 made my 3gs snappier, in all respects its still super slow compared to my fiance's iPhone 4 and obviously the new 4s.

It just bugs me when from time to time my phone locks up on certian things Ex. takes about 20 seconds to open my camera roll, locks up when trying to get to my wifi switch, just switching pages on the homescreen locks up.

Its basically simple things that SHOULD NOT be buggy or slow which are in fact slow thats bugging me. Now this isn't ALL the time, but about 3 to 4 times a day i generally deal with a lockup of a simple task that shouldn't be locking up.

oohh I thought you had a 4..
Well it doesn't hurt to ask. I think it's how people ask and how long they been a customer. So many people feel like they are owed it (not sure if that is the word I am looking for). They feel like they can go into a store and demand it and they will get it. When they don't they come on here and complain about it how evil the company is, but that person is the one who signed a 2 year contract and no one forced them too.
I always felt if you ask nicely, calm, and even make the sales person you're in a good mood that you will get a lot further. Once you raise your voice in any way... you lost.
Also try asking on a Friday, I seem to get better deals with Comcast on Fridays, doesn't hurt with AT&T.

Yah, my 3gs is the first phone with AT&T, i was with verizon years ago for my first phone, then switched to Sprint for 1 contract, ended that early cause they sucked and moved to AT&T and got my 3gs.

So not yah with what everyone has said in this thread i'm probably not likely to get one this early. HOWEVER i do think that since my upgrade date is on black friday this year, i'm going to try and go in the day before thanksgiving and see what i can do 2 days before the upgrade date. I'd prefer not to go out in all that traffic and insanity on black friday and see if i can find a willing AT&T rep to help me out with moving up 2 days.

Try this it worked for me

Hey guys in a hurry as lunch brake is almost over but I saw this thread and wanted to share what I did to get an early upgrade. My upgrade date was originally at the end of November like the OP and after trying 4 times at different stores to get it moved up for the 4S I had no luck. The 5th time however I decided to see if I could get a different phone just to try it out while I waited for my 4S. Surprisingly when I called AT&T they actually bumped me up for a new $199 galaxy s2, I took it and figured why not try it. This was October 6th and after a week with the galaxy s2 I came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me, so I used their 30 day return policy to return it the Friday the 4S came out. I played dumb and asked if they had any new iPhones I could exchange it for and without thinking the guy gave me a 4S right there on the spot, no issues what so ever. I love I and typed this message out on it even though my original upgrade wasnt until the end of November. I would try that route I you really want a 4s

Interesting. Mine was up in mid Nov and I also tried to get early upgrade to no avail. They did offer me the Galaxy free for early upgrade, and I didn't want it. Maybe if I did it'll trigger my early upgrade date as well...
