This is what sucks. Realistically there's not that much reason to rush out and get a "limited time" unlimited plan.

I'm only interested in a grandfathered deal, not a revokable one.

Right, this is the best way to think about what Verizon is doing, a "limited" time unlimited plan, because as soon as either you change phones (get the iPhone 5 this summer) or your 2 years are up, you're back to whatever tiers they have in place. As of now, they have no plans on grandfathering unlimited for users.

I think the reports that the i5 will be loaded with both CDMA and GSM (no LTE) are probably true. I also think this points towards Sprint and T-Mobile getting on board with iPhones this year. Apple knows it needs to expand and getting the phone out to all major carriers just makes sense.

If true we could be looking at real competition as both Sprint and T-Mobile look to staunch losses and regain ground by offering competitive iPhone packages. This could force VZ and AT&T to respond in kind. Meaning unlimited data may be on the table longer, or may come back later. At least I hope so...:)

This is how Verizon is going to calm the riots when the early Verizon iPhone 4 adopters find their device is replaced only 6 months later. It'll be like well we're sorry that after only 6 months there's a new iPhone, but all those people who are getting the iPhone 5 will only get 2GB of data for $30 a month, whereas you're getting unlimited. It'll make the early adopters slightly less angry.

Everyone still thinks the iPhone 5 is coming this summer. Wake up, this isn't going to happen. Apples marketing isn't stupid. Use a little logic when thinking, instead of what you want.

How does it make sense to release a completely new iPhone when it just appered on a new carrier. The largest carrier in the states.

The most I can see happening is a minor bump in hardware, and the focus is going to be on the software side. I see iOS 5 before I see the iPhone 5 this summer.

The current iPhone has more than enough power to compete with all the new dual this and that android phones that get 5hrs of battery life. Apple is about user experience.

This time around it's time for a major iOS update. The phone part is fine till next year. Everyone will get the update so there won't be any hard feelings that your phone just got replaced in 6 months. (of course verizon users ought to be use to that by now)

Who really uses that much data??? if you do, pay the bill. If you want unlimited(which most people due,not because they use that much data they just feel they arent held back by the carrier:rolleyes:) get your iPhone now and enjoy. Wait for the big update this summer and get the iPhone 5 in '12.

When LTE comes out we're all SOL anyway on our current plans.
