3.5" does everything I need it to do and I love the nice smaller size, compared to those massive Android phones.

I'll rather have them reduce the size of the device while keeping the current screen size.

Phone aren't supposed to replace portable computer (god create tablets for that ;) ) so for most uses the small screen is okay.

In a few years we'll probably be able to connect the phones to a display through a docking station so they'll become a sort of mobile computer, but even then I just can't fantom "working" directly on a phone, even with a 4" display and a powerful processor.

Actually we already have that. It's called the Motorola Atrix 4G. It connects to a laptop just like how you said. Lol

The iphone 4 is my first smartphone and I chose it over an Android phone specifically because of the size. All the descent Android phones are way to big to be used as real phones IMHO.

LOL I love the posts about my condescending remark but the fact is that there are many people on this forum that believe whatever Apple does is best. If the poster wasn't one of them then I apologize. That being said, I'm fairly confident that most of those who say they WOULDN'T want a 4" device would quickly change their tune if and when Apple released an iPhone at that size.

I like the 3.5", but I won't be disappointed if it got bigger. However, that doesn't mean I prefer the bigger size to the 3.5".
Just because I like some sports cars doesn't mean that I'm disappointed with my hybrid.

Unless you're are microscope, with AI, you won't be able to see a big difference; and, if Apple adds a AMOLED (or equivalent), it'll be less noticeable.

4 inch AMOLED 288ppi > 326ppi

your right, same arguement with hd tvs, 780 vs 1080 how many people can see the difference but companies dont go backwards in their technolgies especially companies as stuborn as apple

exactly. it'll be "apple really did it right!".

This. Even the current htc 4" (not qHD res, what ever the current is, eg incredible s) looks just as sharp as an iPhone display with much better colours. The galaxy s 2 display looks even better and that's lower res than even the htc displays.

That's bs , and I own both.

I don't think I could really care. I'm getting a SGS2 soon and well I think if the iP5 is under 4" I'll be happier, don't want to have 2 phones which are quite large, and the 3.5" screen on the iP4 looks perfect.

The question of the iPhone screen getting bigger isn't a matter of "if" but rather "when". It's a natural evolution for the phone (ditto iTouch). Most people would take a larger screen on their iPhone's. Want most of us DON'T want is a heavier phone or something significantly larger with respect to form factor than the iPhone 4.

If you measure corner to corner diagonally on the current iPhone it's roughly 5". If I told you the next iPhone would have a 5" screen while keeping the exact same dimensions of the iPhone 4, I promise you practically everyone would welcome that. There really isn't a case to be made against it.

I've wanted a larger screen for a while now. I was pretty much praying for one leading up to the iPhone 4 announcement. I'm even drooling over the new Infuse 4G. But at the same time I have to acknowledge that I've grown very fond of iOS and having the iTunes store inside my cell phone (downloading & deleting podcasts on the fly, etc).

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple makes the iPhone 5 only an internal spec bump and keeps everything the same hardware wise. However I do think the competition for cell phones rocking screens bigger than 3.5" is very strong right now and I do see that as a feature that most people want (as long as the phone itself isn't huge and weighs a ton). 3.7" is a lame move forward. 4" seems to be a pretty strong rumor for months now and I'm banking on that coming to fruition. At least I sure hope so.
