We live in a world of social filters the car you drive the sneakers you wear all say something to the world about yourself. With an iPhone you might be working at Target, or Driving a Rolls Royce but we all still share the same iPhone. There’s no style no pizaz. Even Apple themselves have said they are positioned as a Luxury brand. They also have different tiers and Class levels economically based. R, XR, S, and Pro, Pro MAX. Etc

But there’s No ā€Luxeā€ tier. Apple did sell a $10,000 18K Gold Apple Watch. They sell Ceramic $800 Apple Watches, and $500 HermĆØs watch bands.

Is there an appetite for let’s say a 256GB Ceramic top tier iPhone 12 with Sapphire Glass that’s not scratchable. And has 2GB More RAM
(similarly to the iPad Pro 2018 top tier had 6GB RAM when other iPad Pros had just 4GB) So yes top tier costs money but you get more.

In this case you get the wow factor when people see you’re driving a new 2021 Range Rover or Lambo. Or when they see a ā€œLuxeā€ iPhone 12 yo that’s a $3,000 phone.

Is this a bad idea ?

P.S. it’s pronounced car-T-A

I wouldn't buy a $3,000 iPhone.

They don't need to because the iPhone was never marketed like a piece of jewelry. But I'm sure they'd love to sell a controversial +$3,000 phone, the gossip alone would advertise it better than they ever could

I definitely would be interested. I recommend dipping the whole phone in white gold while we are at it.

I’d be curious about a ceramic iPhone. Just because I love the way it felt on the Watch. But I don’t think it’s worth thousands, and I don’t really care what financial status people would attribute to me based on my phone.

This can't be a real post lol

How well did that $10,000 Gold Edition watch work out?

i would put money on it that it works the same as the ones we all have at retail pricing lol.... would be a huge waste of money. if you have that money for a status quo and need to impress people i don't think an iPhone is going to be where you would put that money at, my opinion anyway.

Go over to one of the wealthy Arab countries and I have no doubt there are Arabs walking around with iphones worth anywhere from $30,000 up to $5 million. Stick a few diamonds on the case and there you have your multimillion iphone.

I don't require attention.

I don't require attention; in fact I don't like it. When I was young, I got teased at, kids stole my lunch money, I got spat at, I got called all sorts of names. As an adult, I grew up not liking to be noticed. I did start to take better care of myself (health and fitness), so now, I've been told at my High School reunion how much I've blossomed, yet I hate the attention and feel uncomfortable. So, NO! I don't like too much flash.
Some people like to celebrate their success there is nothing Wrong with that.

Having an expensive phone doesn’t necessarily mean the owner is successful either though. One thing I have learned is not to assume. Many people drive around in expensive cars they can’t afford and the same goes for a lot of objects. Quite often it’s used to portray a false image and behind the scenes the truth is far from the observers assumption.

I’m not sure Cartier would put their name against a throwaway electrical device and it seems so far removed from their product philosophy.

I get where you are going, much like how Jaguar/Land Rover have their Special Vehicle Operations that do special edition cars and bespoke jobs for customers who are willing to pay.

I have no doubt there is an appetite for this now more than ever, especially amongst the wannabe celebs on Instagram and TikTok who always want to be seen with something more expensive than the ā€œnormalā€ version.

Are Apple interested in this? I don’t think so, Apple seem to be more driven towards creating an ā€œaffordableā€ premium experience throughout their user base, to help maximize profit and then letting those who want to go the extra mile then purchase their iPhones from companies that specialize in luxury customization, companies like Caviar.

I know Nokia once did this, with their Vertu line of phones which were essentially Nokia S40 based phones made with luxury materials that also came with concierge services and access to exclusive clubs etc... Seal the singer was one of their biggest brand ambassadors. The problem is that you need to create an ecosystem for these sort of devices for the people who purchase them to want to keep coming back to this sort of thing and that in itself can eat into profits. Playing in that ā€œwealthā€ field can be very costly, you need to create a 360 experience around it to convince people that they purchased into an amazing and premier lifestyle so everything else Apple does will need a luxury version, so the AppleOne service would need a luxury aspect to it to etc...

Apple seem to see themselves as a mass premium tech company, not a luxury company, so they have to tread carefully in this, leave the luxury to those who do it best through partnerships.

A good example with the Cars, finally someone with an IQ over 90. I would say it doesn’t have to be taken so far. I’d like 4 Options like how I can select a $2,000 MacBook Pro Or a $6,000 MacBook Pro.

#1. RAM: Option 6GB or 8GB, there are millions of iPhones in the wild with a variety of RAM capacities let people choose. Some people are heavier power users than others.
#2. Storage: This is normal 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, Or Ultra Luxe 1TB
#3. Body: There’s a standard option No Charge, and there’s a Ultra Luxe $1,500 Option with a Sapphire Glass and Ceramic Body.
#4. Color Choices. Standard Grey, Green Etc. But Special Colors For Ultra Luxe, White, Pearl Black

So you could option out a $2,000 Ultra Luxe with 256GB and 6GB RAM and just go for the Ultra Luxe build.
