So now we are looking for a price better than $240 or we shop newegg.

Alright count me out then. I am loyal to good companies like OWC (not that newegg isn't a good company) and I have used them for years. I'm not going to shop at newegg to save a couple of bucks. I don't even need one but if the price was right I would buy another.

As posted above, the same Corsair F120 (same sandforce 1200 as the OWC) at Fry's is about 250 after rebate (ends today I think), I just picked that up two days ago for my Windows 7 partition. I have 2x80GB X25-m's in RAID 0 for my OSX drive.
Seems prices are dropping rapidly, I really do like OWC though, great company, great customer service and we all know that rebates suck, but hey I needed it that day so.

Basically the same SSD for $250 after rebate.

Almost forgot, there is a $10 off code: EMCYWNT28 ($10 off)

What do you mean by "basically the same"? Is it the same (just rebranded) or is it not?

I found this 120GB Corsair one in the UK and it seems to be only 20 pounds more expensive than OWC in the US: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/13863...-Hard-Drive/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=0

Sorry guys, just spoke with them again. No discounts on SSD's and no group buys. The prices on the web are the best they can do. Bummer.

I cant believe that they would turn down such a large order. It was worth a shot.

They can't afford to compete with Newegg's prices. I have it on good authority that Newegg does a lot of loss leaders, especially with HDDs and similar products.

Their sales volume is nowhere near as high. Service is better, though.

sucks that theyre not interested. Send them a link to this thread, so they can see how many people would have been buying if the price was right.

Ask them if they would be interested in selling discounted if you can get 1000 buyers? :p

by the time you have 'collected' 1000 buyers, the price will have gone down by itself :D

Group buys sound way too complicated. Why would anyone want to take on that responsibility to manage buying/transferring/returning(DOA) x units of anything?

I've run several group buys for motorcycle parts in the past and the easiest thing to do would be to have everyone make direct payment and direct shipping from OWC to each of us...you'd use your MR screen name when placing the order and the vendor comes up with a coupon code registered members are eligible to use...

I've done it this way or being the consolidation point if the items were coming from Japan (Forged Alloy motorcycle rims) for example.

I'd be down for a 60 or a 120 Gb drive or one of each if the price was good (Crucial just had a sale of its 128Gb M225 drives for $199 plus shipping) so I'd be interested to see what OWC says they can offer and for how many orders they'd need...

Well, if you look at the benchmarks of the OWC and the Cosair (same size and controller). They are almost identical. What conclusion would you reach?

FYI I did mention the Corsair drive to them and its price. The condition was that they would have to sell it to us for less than $240. The Corsair drive can be had for $235.99 when using the $10 off code: EMCYWNT28 and $50 mail in rebate

Their profit margin would have been too small to have to deal with a group buy. Personally that left a bad taste in my mouth. You don't reject a large order like that without even making a counter offer. But then they made up for it when they adjusted the price of my 12GB ram which had fallen from $500 to $460 within 2 days of my order.

Now my RAM is here but my 6 Core Mac Pro is still in China!
