Would you buy a used Mac Pro?

most likely the 2tb hdd was fully erased by the previous owner.
thus the lack of format.

Now that makes sense. 🙂 The strange thing is that he left the boot drive alone. It has World of Warcraft on it and also a bunch of photos in iPhoto.

It's 1333Mgz RAM and I believe the Quad Core Mac Pro's use 1066MHz right? So this does nothing for it. I'm wondering if maybe I should keep the 4x4GB OWC memory I have on order and maybe sell this.

I would install the owc and sell pairs of the patriot for 200 each. say they are used but you beat the buy price by a lot.

That's what I was originally thinking but looking on eBay, RAM in general seems to sell for pretty cheap. I don't know if it's worth the hassle...after eBay and PayPal fees...shipping them out etc. Crappy thing is that OWC charges a $13 restocking fee on the RAM I got from them plus I have to pay to ship it out.

On a side note, I received the 40GB SSD from OWC today (going to use it for a Photoshop scratch drive) and holy crap THIS is what an SSD looks like? It's so small and thin! For people who have never handled one...is roughly the size of an iPhone 4 but lighter! Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to support the SSD in the drive bay...zip ties I guess?

Zip Ties and Velcro have both been used successfully by others here in MR. And there's more options if you're imaginitive (i.e. use the metal plate from a DOA optical drive, super thin plywood or fiberglass sheet you can find in a hobby shop, ...). A few simple tools may be required, so that could be a limit if you're tool box only consists of a flat and phillips screwdriver (actually had a member in this situation once). 😱 😛
