how does the bottom of the MBP scratch? doesn't it have rubber feet like the MBA?

Yeah lol. I'm not taking risks though. I know I'm being stupid and all but until my case arrives, I'm being protective. Not too hard to do.

Oh yeah and I heard about how the speck cases scratch too but only from few people. My teacher has a speck case on his MBP for over a year now and he still loves it and found no scratches at all. So...just to be cautious, I think i will take your advice UltraNEO. :)

i'd have mine done, so long as they got the laser settings right. i could probably get it done here at uni since my uni is one of the leaders in laser technology, processes and measurement in the world and im mates with most of the guys down in the laser shed.

laser material processes despite having governing equations are still pretty emperical.... ie alot of settings are still found via trial and error! and its multi-multi parameter (you can adjust speed, power, spot size, pulse width, period width etc all to achieve the same effect) lol so id want to know it wasnt about to penetrate through the lid on my mac book pro... that'd be disasterous!

I want to get this done to mine, once the warranty is expired.

I know this is an old thread but all that is easily doable..

Ive done a few iPods now. Never done a Macbook tho..

I think its a really cool idea. But I wouldn't know what to etch onto it.

Here is what i did with my new unibody Macbook. Any thoughts?

Although the bottom of the MBP does have rubber feet, they don't elevate the machine that much-- it can get scratched: Mine has scruffing when it was placed on a "rustic" type wooden table during a meeting, being slid/passed around. (I think it was the rough grain of the wood.)

Yeah I'd have it done, I think it's hella cool! But I'd probably only do my name and a small insignia.

Personally I would hold of etching your name onto the case cause when you decide to resell the system, it'll be difficult to sell due to the customization. But images, illustrations are ok.. it's like a tattoo :)

I'd probably have something small/subtle done as long as it didn't void AppleCare. Then again, personalization hurts resale value.

I don't get too attached to my computers. I like to upgrade them whenever possible. I always tell people not to buy me tech stuff as a gift because I'll eBay it as soon as I get a too-good-to-pass-up deal on a better one.

I would for a set of company macbooks, reasonable size logo either under the glowing apple or in one of the corners.

Would be pretty good advertising IMO.

I would get my machine Etched if I could find a place locally that did it and was able to do a very nice and complicated design. Also I would need a lot of time to pick the right design. I'd not want to get one that I don't like after a few months.
