I currently have an iPhone 6 and am looking to upgrade.

On paper the iPhone XS looks great and has good specs. However, I've read lots of people have problems with things like LTE and calls getting dropped.

Do you think now is an okay time to get the iPhone XS?

Don’t Forget those issues affect a small number of people...it’s still a great phone and great upgrade from the 6

Maybe wait for XR if you want something cheaper

I really like mine. If you don't need the high-end device, I may wait for the release of the XR which would save you $250 and would still be a nice upgrade from the 6.

I have the IPhone X and am holding back on upgrading the iPhone XS because the selfie camera has that smoothening like effect everybody is talking about.

I need my selfies to be top notch and don’t want that feature.

PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS!!!!

So, you can upgrade if you want obviously but I’m just giving my personal opinion.

I love my iPhone X. No issues. The only thing that keeps me up at night is the 3GB of RAM.

Hopefully it’s enough to get me through nicely into the future. Wish it had 4GB.

Whenever someone ask me about the XS that I’m using and ask if it’s worth the high price, I usually tell them no. The phone they are using is more than enough for them to get through the day.

I purchased my XS because I plan on using this phone for the 4 years and have a number of events in my life that are worth the price of admission. (Trip to Europe in Dec for a month, getting Married in Colombia next Sept, hopeful having a kid in the next 2 years).

I switched from a 7 to XS. Great decision. Since you have the pay the same service fee to your carrier anyway, you should have a better quality phone.

I like mine a lot. Not much of an upgrade from the X. The camera (portrait mode) blows my mind every time I use it though.

You could potentially wait until the latest iOS 12.1 update is available, but I haven’t experienced any ‘Said’ issues with my XS Max. Not every issue you read is applicable to your iPhone usage. Overall, its a solid iPhone.

I would recommend waiting till XR launch which is only 10 days away or preorder Friday and test drive. Then can see side by side.

Go for it. Nice upgrade from the 6. I’m not experiencing any connection issues with my XS Max.
But it’s up to you.

Do it. Haven’t had any issues with my XS Max or my wife’s XS. Both are great phones! Something about the XS that really hits a sweet spot though.

Yes definitely go for it! I upgraded from an X to Xs Max and don’t have any reception or WiFi issues with my phone.

I am glad to see more and more posting saying they aren't having any issues! I agree you can't go wrong with the XS or XS Max. Love my Max! The XR though is very interesting. My son which I've recently made responsible for his own phones. He has a 6 Plus and he decided he wants to order him an XR, he just can't really afford the XS models. I am excited for him and can't wait to see it.

I just upgraded from 7 + to the XS Max 256 GB and absolutely love this phone. What's a little weird (in a good way) is that my XS Max is actually working in a couple of areas that my 7 + did not from a connecting or reception perspective.

Now, keep in mind that I'm a Sprint customer and overall they don't have a great coverage as is... however, in my area the service works 99% of the places I go outside of a couple of spots. These spots are no longer true "dead spots" for me.

My phone isn't going to win any speed tests in these areas but the fact that it's working is a win. All that said, I haven't had the first issue with my phone at all and would upgrade again tomorrow if I was faced with the same decision to make.

The overwhelming majority of XS/XS Max phones are fine with no problems. Like with every other release there will be a few outliers, and those become a loud vocal presence even when the problems they're experiencing are virtually absent from the user base.

Get the phone, you'll love it; my wife and I both love our XS Max iPhones.

If it is that time to upgrade your device and you can afford the price tag, I would say go for it. I have the XS Max which doesn't seems as a big upgrade from X but the screen size and picture quality are a plus for me. The LTE/WiFi issue issue seems to affect a small amount of users though. The XR will be on preoder this week so you can also consider that if you don't mind the screen resolution limited to 720p, LCD screen, 2x2 LTE band but longer battery life and better value.

If you do get it, I recommend to put the device into DFU or recovery mode and restore to the latest firmware before use.

I have a iPhone 7 from launch and I'm looking to upgrade. But I'm torn between the XS and the XR . I prefer the stainless steel look and That the phone isnt much bigger than the 7 , only things concern me are battery life and the LTE issues going around . And the XR mainly for the battery life and possibly better reception . Cost isn't a factor in making a decision.

People that upgraded from iPhone 7 what's the battery life been like compared in real world use ?

Battery life has been really good, especially considering you can top off the battery anytime with wireless charging.

Having a charging pad @ work and home has made worrying about battery life a thing of the past. No longer also do I have to constantly put the phone on the charger while driving.

This is a no brainer upgrade from the iPhone 7.

People keep saying online (in articles I've read) the iPhone XS gets horrible LTE and cell/call reception. Since this will be a big purchase for me I'm kind of worried about that.

For those of you with the XS have you been able to get online and make/receive calls okay for the most part (I recognize no phone will be 100% perfect)?

XS Max here. I had issues with WiFi during the first week, but iOS 12.0.1 fixed that. No issues with LTE and call reception.

I really wouldn’t worry about that. Like others have said, it only affected a small percentage of units and most of those units are working fine after the most recent update.

Well if you upgrade, I can assure you, you won't feel like you're losing out or wasted your money. It's a nice upgrade-I upgraded from the 7+ and love the new features. The screen, itself, will make you feel it's well worth the upgrade. I'd say go for it.

if the issues were that bad, there'd be updates galore and/or recalls.. neither has happened. It'll be fine.
