Actually looked again, someone has an auction ending today and current bid is $1 (but reserve not met). Another auction is at $1,000 and looks like there is no reserve but 6 days to go. The person selling for $2399 has more than 10 available.

9to5mac.com had a story where new RMBP's are selling for up to 1700 over the retail price. As someone that has a late 2008 MBP that still runs great, this is sounding very tempting. I definitely don't need a new laptop. i could pocket the change and then order another one. Anyone else thinking of doing this?

Put it on there just to see. Add a high reserve and if someone gets it just buy a new one and take your winnings to the strip club.

I found a seller for 2400 on the base RMBP

here in Brazil the same model retails for 5k (apple online store is the only one to carry it for now), even being charged by customs (total 3600), it would still make sense to buy it internationally.

Now you know why people can jack up the price a little and there would still be buyers.

"Mac Pro Laptop"?

At least learn the products you're trying to sell

Where are you referring to that says "Mac Pro"?

Why would anyone buy that one for $3k when a quick search shows a 'buy now' of one for $2245, $2399 (with free shipping), etc. There is also a current auction for one for $2125 with free shipping.

I listed at $3000 hoping I'd get an impulse buy. What I'm really trying to use is the Best Offer method but a lot of people aren't as familiar with it....I would love to do an auction but Ebay takes a way bigger chunk of your earnings

it sucks that ebay charges a fee.

so that 4000 dollar computer sold for how much 5%? that's 200 right there. Could be even more with other fees.

Why would someone impulse buy from you when there is a guy selling the same laptop (over 10 of them) for $600 less, with free shipping? If you want to sell it, I'd try listing it for $2375 with free shipping. You might get a buyer. Otherwise, I'd return it.

Actually, I was curious how much it would cost to sell a $2500/non-auction laptop on eBay. Looks like it costs $93. The paypal fees would be another $72.80. Assuming someone bought a laptop at $2199 and paid no taxes, the profit would be $135. If they paid a modest 6% tax, that would be $132. If the buyer is paying for shipping, then the person could earn $3 for all the trouble and also risk that nothing goes wrong with the shipment/sale.

Unless you got a really good discount and didn't pay $2199 retail, I'd return it. Even a hefty discount though doesn't seem worth the trouble.

I thought it'd be easier. After reading the 9to5mac article I didn't hesitate to buy 2, but yeah the demand slowed a ton. I probably will return it unless I find a buyer on Craigslist in the next few days lol. But you bring up a good point about all the fees...it sucks

Yes, if this RMBP doesn't meet my expectations then of course I would. I'd use the money on a different MBP instead

Those are stock eBay descriptions. They basically make you add that junk these days.
