I have a standard test where I hold the phone securely and with one hand, then with 1 thumb reach across to the furthest corners. If I have to stretch and can't touch (e.g. Galaxy S3) the corners then it's too big, and not for me. The iPhone 5 has quite literally the perfect sized screen for me.
If I wanted a big screen, I'd get a tablet and I did I got an iPad and I love it and because I have the phone as well I didn't bother getting a cellular iPad, I just make a wireless hotspot and badaboom internet.

People saying the iPhone 5 has the perfect sized screen are either blind loyalists or don't view web pages often. If Apple decided to release a 4.7" iPhone, you can BET most of those people would act like they supported the decision the whole time. They're just saying the 4" is perfect because Apple says it is.

Little bigger than 4 would be good. Keep in mind that being realistic Apple is not going to put out a 5" screen as many of the existing Apps would not work properly on it. The resaolution and clarity would be off. And while some can argue that the App designers will re-do their Apps to accomandate the new size, many will not.

Accommodating different screen resolutions is like Programming 101. Only an idiot would code without having variable resolutions in mind (quite apart form anything, what happens when the phone is flipped from portrait to landscape?). I gather Apple's current developer's tools do not help much in this regard (yet), but it is not as though it is a intractable problem. It's not rocket science and Apple already made developers do this for the iPhone 5. One change a year is not so much.

Poll only proves on thing.......Give the customer the choice to choose. Developers can deal with this if they have too.

I'll put money on the iPhone 6 (4.3" or 4.5" screen will be the biggest for me) or whatever it will be called as long as the operating system improves. iOS6 was a busy IMHO.

Noooo. I hate the fact that all the smartphones are going to bigger screens. I want my iphone 4 size. I want a PHONE. That fits in my pocket. I am happy to use it for everything at that size but, if I desperately needed a larger screen then I would use my iPad.

So, this far in we are looking at 143 want larger screens, 28 don't. I'm toying with the idea of starting a new poll breaking down the sizes more as some have requested. I am also curious about age groups. Is there a relation between age and preferred screen size?

make the phone 5" and give us the same curved edges like the 3G/S

i held a 3GS yesterday and i miss it.. it fit perfectly in the hand

I would like an iPhone 5S or 6 with the exact same form factor but a 4.2-4.5" screen.

Example:

Just a quick additional thought: this is not a discussion about which is better, which makes more sense, or even what we think apple will actually do. This is purely which option you would spend your money on if you walked into the apple store or carrier store today.

Agreed, I love what apple has done with mobile industry as they were the leaders and innovators, I would buy an iPhone with 4.5-5" screen right now assuming they would have bit more space and would include micro SD card slot for those of us who like to play little more with technology, not just the plain old and dull style. There are no excuses for apple not to put a micro SD card into a new iPhone, better yet, I think it's necessary to keep up with the rest of the mobile industry. iCloud is fine but a student can't pay $70-$90 for a simple phone service. Just as the companies like AT&T should NOT take advantage of restricting users to having data plans and forcing them into the most expensive options...
iPhone with 4.5-5" definitely more likely to buy, iPhone with 4.5-5" screen and micro SD ---> COUNT ME IN !!!
OH and pls add the camera shooter button !!! u already have silent mode, that is brilliant, few more things to fix and u'll be the king once again.

APPLE PLS WAKE UP AND STEP UP THE GAME!!!

Thanks

Your options are incomplete. I would spend my hard earned money on any and all of those options. I am honestly ready for a 5" iPhone option.... This after being against the iPhone growing at all a few years ago.

I think this poll clearly shows the the 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5 is still too small. Anyone here still repeating the line that a 3.5 inch screen is the "perfect" size?

I don't think there's a "perfect" size - people have different hands and different requirements.

But for me the 4 inch has been a disaster - it's a stupid aspect ratio and it's too big. And it clearly hasn't satisfied the people who want a bigger phone.

Ideally I think Apple should scrap the 4 inch size and offer a 3.5, 4.3 and 5 inch series of phones, all with decent performance options. And none of which use a 9:16 aspect ratio.

Negative. I have an iPad at home if I want a bigger screen. I quite like that I can use my iPhone 5 on the train with one hand easily. I've played around with bigger screens, and the just didn't seem to cut it for me. Always too wide.

larger screen

Yes, by all means would I pay for a newer iPhone with a much larger screen. I firmly believe that the 5 inch screen will be on all smartphones. Its just a matter of time before Apple gets there behind everyone else.

IMO this is what the iPhone 5 should have been. In the beginning I thought I liked the taller iPhone 5 screen but as I have used it I like it less and less. It makes landscape practically useless except for video.

As long as they keep it in the same dimensions then i wouldnt mind if they went a little bigger but IMO my iphone 5 is perfect and i almost always use it one handed. That is why i got rid of my S3 (well that and other reasons). If they make the screen on the sides boarderless and make the bezel on the top and bottom a little smaller to fit more screen it would be perfect. The phone has too much bezel anyway.

I need 5". This 4" is garbage.

Than buy an android

I received my i5 when it launched in the fall. If the rumors are correct and the next iPhone is coming in a few months, I would drop full price ($400-$700) for a 4.25" iPhone. But, I would not buy a 5" iPhone.
