Current iPhones have so many more bells and whistles as well as greatly improved battery life. and a terrific Camera
Only nice feature of the iPhone 7 is how thin it was but overall the iPhone 7 is an antique speed wise and everything else
No I would not by an iPhone 7

The thinness you mention of is still applicable to the iPhone 6s and even the iPhone 8 for that matter. I doubt consumers notice a fraction of ‘millimeters’ of thickness of a difference between phones. Now, when you start adding things like stainless steel bands and glass, yeah, those are things that start to add to the weight that people notice more than they do the actual thickness.

Comparatively to what? Safari and how iOS operates are usually separate entities. Just because Safari might seem like it lags, doesn’t mean iOS performs on the same level, it probably depends what you’re actually using Safari for in retrospect.
Yeah, I know Safari by itself isn't an accurate indication. But I was comparing to doing the same thing on the same phone half a year or a year ago. Or comparing to my 11" iPad Pro. The iPhone 7 just isn't a very fast phone anymore. And that's just browsing sites like these that aren't very heavy. But if you're using it mainly as a phone with some occasional browsing, it's definitely good enough.

If the general spec of the 7 suits you then why not, but only if the refurbishment is of a very high standard. By high standard I mean the shell and battery replaced so it is genuinely like new. I have a daughter and a grandson who use that model and both have suffered with weak battery life from new, so you don't want to be starting off with a tired battery.

I have an iPhone 7 I got in January 2019 and it’s still a pretty fast and great iPhone I would recommend it it’s my first iPhone use to use an android phone

nope... mine is laggy and 2gigs of ram are insufficient - constant reloads of apps...

Hi, I’m currently using an SE and was thinking to buy the new SE in April, if there is any...

But today i read that in my country a huge supermarket chain will sell refurbished 7 (32gb, only original Apple parts were used) with 2 year Guarantee on top for 289€.

I just use my SE for pictures (the quality is enough for me), Whatsapp, browsing and email.

So compared with a iphone SE2 i would save 200€. I read that the 7 will get ios14 too, so it should last a while.

Is there anything i am missing or is this a good choice if i don’t need up to date hardware?
Hmm, I'm not too fond of any refurbished iPhones that don't come straight from Apple. Too many cheap fake parts out there that you wouldn't know, and you definitely lose any water protection seal (no guarantees). For Apple products, I'd prefer buying straight from Apple or its official resellers.

But the iPhone 7 itself is still a great phone. Personally, I just bought an iPhone 7 Plus not too long ago for about €390 (converted from my local currency). Brand new from Apple, and for the Plus 128GB model. It's a great phone, and it's IP67 to boot. With Samsung stopping any IP protection on their new Galaxy A lineup, it's difficult finding a phone with IP rating that is not an expensive flagship. The iPhone 7 is a great fit, and the Plus model have 3GB of RAM.

As for OS update concern, do note that the A10 is used in many current Apple products, including baseline iPad. So it will definitely receive support for at least another 2 years if not longer. As for RAM concerns, the 9.7" iPad Pro sports an A9X chip with 2GB of RAM. I doubt Apple would drop support on that anytime soon (it carriers the Pro brand), so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I bought a "new" iPhone 6s for a backup phone last year. Doesn't count as new at apple, so it was, at best, a phone that someone bought then returned. Relatively inexpensive, and had 64GB of storage. I also have a backup SE with only 32GB, and that is too little.

For my main phone, I prefer to be a little closer to leading edge. Such as my 11.

I am using a 7+, works extremely well and good for one or maybe two more years. Having said that, I wouldn't buy a 7/7+ as a new phone now as there are various choices like the incoming iPhone SE2/9 or even the iPhone 8.

I'd wait. I bought an iPhone 7 because I had a 7 Plus but it wasn't CDMA compatible. I was trying out carriers. I kept my 7 Plus but traded in the 7 for an 11 Pro Max with AT&T. I got $700 for it, so about $450 more than I'd paid for the iPhone 7 off Swappa mint condition.

The battery life was already pretty meh with the 7 Plus but the 7 was absolutely abysmal. I'd think this new SE2/9/Whatever will likely have a few optimizations hardware wise to make the battery better. Plus you'll get to keep it longer as well with software updates and support.

I'd go with a iPhone 8 onwards to be honest

Yup. There is a clear differential with the A11 bionic processor over the A-10 fusion. I mean, if you look in terms of comparison how iOS 13 performs on both these phones, there’s a lot of recent reports with the iPhone 7 struggling with iOS 13 with stability, where as the iPhone 8 Appears to be more solidified with iOS 13, at least from my experience being my ‘work phone’.

Generally, the 7 is still a good phone in 2020 and would handle the OP's tasks perfectly fine. As already mentioned there is a risk of loop disease (Google it) though. And personally, I would only buy iPhones straight from Apple or any of its certified resellers. It does cost more but I will receive 1 year of warranty.

If the OP still hasn't yet purchased an upgrade for their SE I highly recommend waiting for the SE2 or 9 (whatever it'll be called). It may possibly be announced on the 15th and released the 22nd.

Well I'm certainly very happy with my 8+ that I purchased nearly 7 months ago. Super good phone with features I prefer (home button, bezels, 16:9 aspect ratio LCD display, rotatable home screen, and True Tone). Holds up really well for 2020. The 8 is just a somewhat smaller screen version so it too should also hold up really well.

I just wouldn't recommend only 32GB of storage. I bought a 6s last year for a backup phone. Didn't need to be the latest and greatest, and on ATT or Verizon the 7 (qualcomm modem) would be fine for that.
