After reading that there is no way in hell I would use it now.

I agree. But who do I want to have my data -- Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook? I don't trust any of them and Google is no worse than the others, at least in terms of intentions.

Yep. That's the video I watched. Google "What's the weather" and it gives you the same kind of results as in the video, or "How tall is such and such", etc.
You didn't even watch the whole video. He said set a reminder in 10 minutes and it did it for him. Regular google can't do that

Eric Schmidt comments about privacy.

and a raft of other transgression leads me to believe that Neither Apple nor Microsoft are currently on the same plane as Facebook and Google for privacy intrusions.

I watched half of it I think or maybe all of it I don't remember, but I saw him set a timer. I'd have liked to see more stuff though -- setting calendars, making notes, opening apps, etc., rather than just a few voice commands.

I know Apple doesn't like competition but if somehow someway Google Now was released on iOS for iPhone 4 and 3GS would you use it? I know Apple won't allow it but it would be awesome if they did cause it'd definitely be portable to the older devices.

Isn't this unanswerable? We are still in Default 1 for iOS Apple Maps so we don't know how it matches up. Ask again after roll out and all the miraculous fixes Apple will implement but couldn't provide in the Default 1 release.

I really like Now's predictive search. My friend has a Nexus with Jelly Bean on it and showed me Now, what makes it cool is how it works without you even telling it anything. I.e. You wake up, swipe up and it might have a card showing the easiest route to work and time it will take to get there. Or in the middle of the day when your team is playing, just swipe up and there's your team's box score in a card. I'd like that functionality if it came out as an iOS app, or at least Apple should give 3rd party apps the ability to put widgets out in the notification center, it's similar to a lot of the things Now can do, except in a static way rather than dynamic.

Also they're taking cues from Apple as far as the "little" things, for example when you go to Now's home screen it will have a picture at the top of where you are based on your location, here in Chicago it shows a skyline with the Sears Tower for example. Not a useful feature but a little touch that definitely makes it "cool."

Yeah probably not something you'd want to use if you're worried about data collection.

Apple is collecting mostly the same data especially when they switch to their own Maps app.

Did you consent to Skyhook to add your wifi router to it's database? Apple uses Skyhook that does the Wifi scanning of its own to build a database of Wifi routers around the world. So I guess since they get it from a 3rd party it is ok. :)
