I ordered Apple Watch Series 5 GPS, 44mm Space Grey Aluminium Case with Space Black Milanese Loop yesterday and then cancelled the order for this very reason.

.... oh well, Back to my original Series 0 Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Milanese Loop :)

I’m using an app at the moment. I charge my watch before I go to bed in the evening to 100%. When I wake up in the morning it’s between 70-75%. I can top it up to 100% whilst I’m getting ready for work in the morning.

Which in return means you lose 2-3 hours of your acitive awake day to charge the watch so that you can track sleep. I wish more progress would happen on the battery life front.

From the latest rumors of S6 watch, we may see native sleep tracking for S4, S5 and S6. Oximeter, mental health sensing, S6 chip, and better battery life all hardware-based so only on the new watch.

oximeter probably will be available for s4,s5 and s6, s4 has the hardware required for the oximeter and other companies are activating the oximeter with updates...

No, I love my S5 SS Gold, no need for sleep tracker (when would I charge it). Talked to my brother who has been building oxygen sensors for years (plus alot of other sophisticated instruments) , he said the little clip on units are just fine, mine will be here in a week.

I know a lot of people are saying ”they can tell if they have had a good nights sleep”, but a good sleep tracker gives you a lot more than just stats.
It can, as already pointed by one member, warn you of a potential issue such as low/high heart rate which you would otherwise have no idea about. Snoring detection and amount of interruptions could also be a sign of sleep apnea that should be checked out.

I would have loved the Apple Watch to have offered this but it‘s a bit lat to the party for me. I already invested A long time ago in the under mattress type (withings) which is great and having tried various apps in the app store, I hav never been a big fan of wearing a watch in bed. Nonetheless, it will be a great addition to the watch.

Absolutely, by wearing it during the night it tracks your resting heart rate which is a good indicator of your health. I’ve been sick the last couple weeks and by looking at the history I can see that the changes in heart rate reflect which days were better and how the recovery went.
AutoSleep also uses the noise data of my S4 and also tracks when I pick up the phone, which apparently I sometimes do during the night. I just charge my watch when I’m in bed reading and have no problem with battery.

Native sleep tracking and extra or better sensors will provide more accurate results. I don’t know if it will give as detailed results as AutoSleep does but I’m hoping AutoSleep can incorporate those results.

As far as the clip oximeter.... the whole point of the watch is its on all day and can monitor low O2 levels.

I wouldn't upgrade for that alone (I've been tracking my sleep with a third-party app just fine since I first got my S3 two years ago), but if Apple can somehow do a better job with a.first party solution I'd at least try it.

agree. If they mess with the activity rings and make sleep a target I'd probably stop wearing the watch.

I think it’s a really cool feature, but I don’t like wearing accessories to bed

Battery life sure does need to improve a lot. Mine is only 38% and was off charger at 8am

Interested as quite a few have mentioned how they are looking forward to this feature. Is this a feature you would like to see and would you use it? Rumoured to be released for series 6 with what I’m guessing will be a bigger battery

I have this built into my Galaxy Sport and find it quite useful. Don't care for the watch as much (ergonomics).
I have tried what apps are currently available for the Apple Watch and they leave much to be desired.

Series 5?

I have the Nike Series 5 (Black GPS) and most days I have 70% or so left.
What I did do was take a hard look at the apps and live updates installed on my watch and linked to my iPhone and decide what I really wanted.

Sleep tracking doesn't work with my lifestyle, unfortunately. I've tried it using Fitbit devices, as well as sleep tracking apps for Apple watch.

I don't want a device/app where I need to press a button to tell it I'm going to sleep - and the reason no auto apps/devices work for me is that every night when I get into bed, I read for 1-2 hours on an e-reading device. So, my body, and hands barely move at all that entire time. Sleep tracking apps/devices always show me going to sleep immediately while I'm actually reading for quite some time.

Therefore I cannot get an accurate reading. I do sleep with my AW every night though...

I have fixed it over time where i have deleted apps which have helped. A good battery for me was ending the night on 20-30% but that was normally after a 40 min workout but with no workouts due to staying home it was at day 5-10% some nights but now it died recently by 21:00. i’ve deleted an unused app so will see if it makes any difference.

I’m using the Siri watch face but may switch it again to see if having the a clock and texts watch face if it makes any difference tomorrow.

Ouch 😣

Modular Infograph with Nike, Activity, Health, Heart, etc... Messages, Phone (don't talk on it - just for check who) and a couple of others.
Then again, my use is fairly basic.

Luck!!

I already have Pillow and that does a pretty good job of tracking my sleep. I honestly don't feel a need for me to upgrade especially if that's going to be the only real upgrade they'll have over the S5. Honestly I didn't think that the upgrade from AWS4 to S5 was worth it, but couldn't find a S4 at a reasonable price
