I'll agree, it's a very small percentage of the cost of a MB/MBP, but we're not seeing it from the same perspective as their bean-counters.

why do ppl complain about things like this? If you don't like the fact that apple isn't a charity and actually wants to make money stop buying apple products... its that simple...
I think the problem is perception and visibility. Bury the cost of the remote in the price of the laptop. I would not quibble or notice the extra $19 in the price of the computer but when you see it charged separately, the optics are not good.
A Bluetooth remote would make a lot more sense anyway.
