Really.

I was one of the bendgate deniers but now after pretty much full year of use my iPhone 6 is slightly bent. It's almost unnoticeable but the bend is there. First I noticed a slight dent near the volume button and then started observing more closely. It's very slightly bent. Damn. :D

Guess it's time to get 6S or live one more year with bent iPhone.

I noticed a dent on the back of my iphone 6 plus a few months ago. I don't have Apple care+ so when I took it in they said they would not replace it. I have used an Apple leather case the entire life of the phone and I literally only put my phone in my front right pocket so I have no clue what caused it. I upgrade every year anyway but I hope it doesn't hurt resale value of the phone in a couple weeks.

The 3D Touch screen is twice as heavy as the previous screen. I'm not sure if that is attributable to the thickness increase, but it probably is as well. But the increase is so negligible you can probably still use the same case from your 6 on the 6S.
Oh, I thought he was implying they switched to the 7000 series metal due to 3D Touch, not the bend issue.

But you can do the same "something" to other phones (and likely the upcoming 6S) and it won't bend. So I don't get your point other than the iPhone 6 is weak. But this is known by now.
We don't know how he bend his phone, so your point about the same "something" on other phones is pure conjecture.

My god is it 2014 again.

Oh just go back to around this time last year. MANY here fought and fought that the phone was perfectly fine and designed the way Apple intended. If you bent it through normal use, it was your fault. Apple wouldn't design a weak phone. Apple had no reason to make it stronger.

And yet my launch day 6+ isn't bent at all.

Well the bend test done so far have proven that the casing is stronger and can withstand almost 3x as much pressure than the previous models. 7000 series aluminum and reinforced housing both play a factor in this im sure. But it was also proven that 3D touch display is larger but I'm not sure if it caused the entire .2mm increase or just a fraction of it. Either way, the new phones are way stronger.

They made it stronger for 3D touch.

How many confirmed bent phones are there? 10? 100?

Apple sold 200,000,000 of these phones and a couple dozen bent. Give me a break.

I think he was referring to the thickness of the outer shell. It's slightly thicker than the iPhone 6 (hence the phone being wider and taller).

Yes....? And that's because I believe the screen is slightly thicker now to account for the added 3D Touch electronics.

They made the glass stronger for 3D Touch, not the outer shell. The outer shell is slightly thicker because of the bending issues.

The panel is thicker yes but that has nothing to do with the phone being longer and wider. That's due to the increased thickness of the aluminium shell.

They made the shell with stronger 7000 aluminum because the Watch is made out of 7000 also. They probably got a bulk discount and it wasn't much more expensive than 6000.

Apple is being EXTRA careful here, not because bendgate was a real wide-spread issue but just to shut the idiots up. Also with 3D touch people will be pressing hard on their phone more often.

Again...no pics

Here:

From this angle the dent is more noticeable due to lightning.

Very slightly bent. Needs close observation to notice the bend in real life.

Saying there was only 10 bent iPhones IS "yellow journalism"!!!

So how many are there?

Searching the net there are only about a dozen VERIFIED bend cases.

Is it 200? 300? 2,000?

Even if its 2,000 cases that is 1 out of 100,000 iPhones. And I bet half were because of user misuse.

My iPhone 6 Plus has a slight bend around the sim tray. This is the second one I have had due to bending issues, the last was replaced FOC by Apple Store.

So if there are 1,000 cases than thats 1 out of 200,000 iphones.

or 0.0005% of iPhones.

Talk about blowing things out of proportion
So apple redesigned the aluminum body because the bending issue was blown out of proportion?
