No reason to get snippy with us, just trying to help you climb back down from that tree you ran up at the beginning of this thread.

Taking your NEW requirements into account, Verizon is still likely your cheaper option.

On Verizon, an Unlimited family plan is $119.99/month and includes 2 lines at that price. Data is another $30/line and you know all the rest. So yes, you are right at around $200/month if you add in insurance (which is frankly a waste of money w/Verizon as it doesn't cover jack squat...go squaretrade instead) and visual voice mail. Although its possible they won't charge extra for that with the iPhone; we don't know for sure just yet.

On AT&T, however, a Family Talk Unlimited plan is also $119.99/month -BUT- its an ADDITIONAL $49.99 PER LINE. Before data plans, that puts you at around $170/month just for the equivalent voice package as Verizon's family plan, or $50 more expensive for JUST two lines. Add in data plans for 2 phones plus unlimited texting and you are going to spend a LOT more with AT&T on your particular plan. Add in more family lines and it gets ridonkulous.

AT&T Family Talk Unlimited Plan:
Verizon Family Unlimited Plan: [u...rst wto lines, so it would be the same price.

I just looked at Verizon's site and the numbers don't seem much different from AT&T. A two-person family plan is $70 for 700 minutes. Add two unlimited data plans and that's another $60, which brings you to $130. Add two unlimited texting things and that's another $40, which is $170. If you go up to the 1400 minutes and the friends and family thing, then yeah it's $190 plus taxes and crap.

If you need two phones with that many minutes, all that data and unlimited texts, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? Either don't talk so much or do talk so much and don't send 8,000 texts per day. If you're like my mom and can get by on less than 150MB of data per month, you can do the $15 plan for that. I barely top the 200MB that AT&T gives you for $15, so I went with the $25 plan.

I'm on AT&T, have both of my parents added. My mom has an iPhone, dad has some Sony thing. We have the cheapest voice plan, I have the $25 data and $5 texts, she just has $15 data. It's all about $120-125 for THREE PEOPLE. If you're nearing $200 for two phones, you might want to re-examine your usage or realize that that's how much it costs to do what you do.

I dont see any consideration of what "Unlimited" means on each carrier.

I believe:

ATT is not unlimited but 2gig for new accounts.
VZ is not unlimited but 5 gig for new accounts.

Additional data charges on ATT could be a cost factor.

I'm 100% positive I make more money then you. So getting a new job won't solve my problem because I can more then afford it. My whole point is Verizon is damn expensive compared to everyone else.

And unfortunately, you are blind. It's been proven several times in this thread that Verizon and AT&T are virtually identical on pricing for the plan you want. There's no point in comparing either company to Tmo/Sprint/US Cellular or whatever since they don't carry the iPhone (yet).

I just checked your link and it clearly states the $119 for at&t includes the first wto lines, so it would be the same price.

Good catch and my bad. You get 2 lines included with both the Verizon and AT&T Family plans, unlimited talk on both for $119.99. Adding a third through fifth line on Verizon costs an additional $9.99 per line. Adding a third through fifth line on AT&T costs $49.99 per line. Which given how closely the two plans otherwise mimic one another, is a bit surprising. AT&T is far more expensive for a multi-line family plan than Verizon, but then again you do get the rollover minutes on AT&T that Verizon doesn't offer.

Um, actually .......

You have to select the unlimited plan to see the price change, but Verizon does charge $49 per line after the first two on the unlimited plan, just like AT&T. The prices are the same, only differences are AT&T offers unlimited text (verizon is 5000 with unlimited m2m texting) and verizon has a 5gb cap while AT&T has 2gb.

Best bet for a cheap monthly plan with iPhone is to unlock and use on t-mobile without 3G.

So I was wondering how much it would be if I switched from Sprint and go to Verizon and get the Iphone 5 if it comes to their network over the summer. Damn 2 person family plan will run me over $200 with tax. Minds well go to ATT if I want it that bad huh? Don't see how this network has more ppl then ATT, Sprint, and T-Mo when all these companies are cheaper and can offer more.

One compelling reason I went to AT&T was Rollover. I have the 1400 Family plan with 4 lines, we usually use 400 min per month so rollover 1000, and every so often I use up the extra minutes on conference calls at work, but with Verizon if you have 1400 per month and only use 400 they get to keep the rest, really unfair.

Love AT&T and we all have iPhones, and the Unlimited TXT.

1400 Min plan 80
Unlimted Data iphone 30
Unlimited txt 30

3 iphones with the 9.99 add a phone and 25.00 data so add $105 plus the original 140 is 245 plus taxes minus discounts I pay 105 per month. my company pays the rest.

Which is exactly what I've been doing for the past year or so and can't complain. :)

$79.99 unlimited everything and no contract. And honestly, haven't had a dropped call with the same iPhone 4 I was using on AT&T and had literally 50+ dropped calls in the 1.5 months I was with them. Yeah, my data speeds are slightly slower and if I'm traveling I don't get data all the time, but with AT&T I was having a LOT more issues.

Sprint has been my favorite carrier to the present time, I had them for 5 years and had zero dropped calls, even on campouts in the mountains.
I'm hoping the Verizon iPhone can be 'unlocked' to work on Sprint, but I'm not holding my breath since CDMA technology can be a bit trickier than GSM when it comes to unlocking.

I'm still waiting to see if the Verizon plans change any for the iPhone but as they stand it isn't enough to sway me. It'd cost roughly $60/mo more for slightly better data and reception.

I guess if I had a family plan w/ multiple users rollover minutes would be valuable.

For me, they are a waste. I'd gladly trade them for 3G service when I travel to visit family.

I'm 100% positive I make more money then you.

Counting your mom and dads income as your own doesn't count, LOL!

My whole point is Verizon is damn expensive compared to everyone else.

As numerous others have already pointed out, you just don't know what you're doing with the plans. I, like many others have come up with different prices (often equivalent) to AT&T.
