I think this KB is great for people who don't hammer at the keyboard. If you can glide over the keys, you'll love it. The feedback is different, it clicks more than depresses, and it's much less soft. But the stability of the keys is awesome.

That actually sounds like how I type.

That's really great to hear. I plan on using the rMB as my workhorse for writing...so I'm excited to hear that so many people actually enjoy using the keyboard.

I'm a lawyer all day and a novelist at night also working on an MFA, so I'm pretty much typing all the time. I was so pleasantly surprised that I'm kicking myself for not ordering the laptop right when it went on sale on the 10th.

Not good for me, I'm a fast typer. But with my big paws i unfortunately hammer away lol.

At work it can be loud and annoying to listen to people hammering away at keys. It's like nails on a chalkboard.... I'm a fast typer as well. However, I don't need to hammer away at keys to type fast. I realize thats how some people type.

Good for me typing has nothing to do with my line of work. So i can hammer away at home at peace. At least its NOWHERE near annoying compared to when i had a Gaming PC with a Razer mechanical keyboard. I bet the you could hear that thing 2 blocks away! :D

That thing was ear bleeding loud.

LMAO! One of my friends at work types so loudly that other people in the office complain. They go on about wanting to choke him so the typing can stop. LMAO! :D

I could imagine, that thing was loud even if you were a soft typer!

Performance on the MacBook seems good. The only thing I want to know is if someone could open up Logic and load up the included Foster the People project and see if it can play it back without overloading the CPU.

If this machine could play a ~70 track commercial radio song and not hickup I would be sold.

Couldn't stop myself from grinning the entire time I was at the store today playing with this incredible, most amazing ultrabook ever made. You can quote me on that. It's epic.

I still can't get over the shallow keyboard. I swear if Apple could have gotten away with using a touch screen instead of a physical keyboard, they would have.

The black MacBook is very sharp looking though.

Using a high ppi large screen for a keyboard would be a disaster for price and battery life. Apple would never do that, they just want to make a real keyboard as small as they can.

Although I have been a fan of the new MB I decided a few days prior launch that I wasn't going to order one. On the way back from Hyde Park (Chicago) I stopped at the Oak Brook, IL store today and spent a few minutes with one. Wow. The screen is gorgeous. The keyboard and trackpad are fine, they felt like I would be comfortable typing on them all day. The trackpad is cool. The size is fantastic for someone who travels or wants to cut down on weight. The build quality is a good as Apple has made so far, if not the best. The MBA looked very dated next to it. As to performance, my observations were limited. There was no UI lag at all in the the 10+ minutes that I was actually using it. All of the Apple apps ran smoothly and fast. The only non-Apple app that was installed was Light Room. I imported one of the pictures that they had loaded in Photos and played in LR for a while. Photo Shop with multiple layers may be another story although that is what I have my iMac for. Despite all the nay saying on this forum Apple is going to sell a lot of these. I have changed my mind and ordered a 1.3, 512 in Silver.

Oh, yeah, one of the salesperson suggested that I check out the the Apple Watches. I did, and even meet with the salesperson to try them on and play with a live watch. My Tissot had nothing to worry about.

I've been tempted to get a 5K iMac and a MacBook after seeing it in person, you'll have to let me know how the combo is!

I have a 2012 MBP right now and I crave that combo. Seems perfect.

How did it handle iMovie? How was the heat?

Cool to the touch! It handled it very well with no lag at all. Quite impressive. It'll also run Final Cut Pro. Just don't expect it to stay cool when exporting a big file, nor will it render it quickly. I also watched a 4K YouTube video for 20 minutes and it barely got warm.

I will. I use an iPad with bluetooth keyboard a lot so I think that I will really like the MB. The 5K iMac is wonderful as well. With all of the various syncing options available today, I expect the iMac and MB to make a fantastic 2 device system.

What I like is since they got rid of the moving parts in the trackpad, they can make it as big as possible since essentially it's just a pad now. My opinion the productivity gained by apple's trackpad technology is unsurpassed, and the bigger it is, the better.

Sure is a lot of money to put down, though.

Never say never. I'm sure they would make an e-Ink keyboard if they felt they could get away with it.

Dat DSLR/SLR camera tho! Go ahead, tell me you shot these with your iPhone 6/plus lol :)
Um, no. Micro four thirds with a zoom lens. I've sold enough stuff on eBay to get some practice with product shots.
