Wow.. iPad OS 4.0 not until the fall.

Not only will there be a new iPad, but those of us early adopters won't get all the features just like those who still use the iPhone 3G. 😀

A forced upgrade. 😀

I am just kidding (i hope)
 
Was really hoping it would be released in Summer, so I would have a new Ipad with new OS 4.0 . Sucks now, that I have to wait till like September/October.

We can still gloat about having stuff like iBooks, homescreen wallpapers, etc. to iPhone/iPod touch owners until summer. Then they can gloat about having iPhone OS 4.0 stuff until Fall. It's roughly equal.

we won't see OS 4 till Sept 2010.

When new iPod touches are released...

on sept 2009, 3.1 was released the same time as the new iPod's were released.

so mos def the iPad won't have 4.0 OS till late Sept
 
I bought the 2G iPhone for full price, and then got the $100 credit from apple. I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again with iPad.

BUT...like roland said, i was using it that whole time.
 
Oh come on, you do realize that internal developers didn't even know about the iPad until it was announced. After it was announced 4.0 was nearly demo stages so there was no time to go and start porting it over to the iPad. Apple isn't going to screw up their release process just to port it over to the iPad.

They are going to take a few months to polish it up for the iPad. Calling this a fail is VERY silly.

I too bought the original iPhone and got my $100 credit. Not cash but credit. And it was barely 3 months or so. However, as an early adopter of just about everything I have decided to wait on the iPad till this summer or so. I'll still be buying a Rev. A. Probably late June or early July. So I will still have to wait on 4.0 Big deal. I will also need to upgrade my almost 2 year old iPhone 3G which won't multitask, but will be due for a replacement. Big deal. I'll wait and get the new iPhone 3GSX or whatever it is called.
 
now that I think about it, it's to sell more iPads at Christmas. He look, new software, look how cool it is now! Buy Buy Buy!

Last I checked, Fall came right after Summer so it's only a few more months to wait.

Jesus, what a bunch of freakin' whiners! I don't know how your loved ones put up with all your negativity and whining!

Is this verified? There definitely was some team working on the iPad version of iphone OS and that team did know about the 4.0
 
What should Apple have done instead? Delayed the iPad until the fall? Not released OS 4.0 until late next year? "Worked harder" and had it out now?

I have no idea how 'early adopters got screwed', so it sounds a lot like whining to me.
 
OS 4 in fall? Great. Jailbreak release for iPad won't be long, so I have lots of time to enjoy it (with multitasking) before worrying about the upgrade.

i just got my ipad on saturday and am enjoying the heck out of it with 3.2

there is no hurry, it will come when it comes


just enjoy the ipad, its fantastic with 3.2, you cant have everything at the same time guys

ha ha, WE'RE the negative ones? as ron burgundy would say, let's leave the families out of this.

and i love my ipad....just want the update sooner in the life cycle of the product, before ipad 2.0 hits next april. don't fool yourself into thinking it's not already being worked on.
 
The delayed release for OS 4 on iPad is probably due to them adding iPad specific features. We are running 3.2 while other devices are on 3.1 I have a feeling the iPad won't be running 4.0 but 4.1 or something like that.

Has anyone considered that it is taking until Fall because they might be adding some additional features into the iPad version, like printing? Waiting until Fall doesn't bother me at all. I'm more than happy with my iPad as it is now. People complain too much.
 
its a long wait but there might be a reason, who knows we might get more features than the iphone/ipod gets. either way, i'll get the new iphone come summer so i'll get to use it atleast but would much rather have it for the ipad.

Yup. This is it, I would bet. My thinking is that the iPad will get a dashboard added to OS4 on top of everything else announced.
