Thats just simply not accurate. Would you be willing to make a video and upload it proving or showing what you are describing? Like a side by side or something?

Im curious what it is that you're seeing and why you say its so drastically bad on yours.

It isn't drastically bad in that you notice the lag and stutter instantly. It is something I mainly come across whilst web browsing, which is what I use my 6+ for 90% of the time.
I think you're assuming that my phone lags all the time and that it's noticeable to all & sundry 100% of the time. It isn't. Sometimes it's subtle and certainly not a dealbreaker, but at other times it's a real PITA. It's there and I notice it several times per day.

Incrementally faster yes, but more responsive no.
A 5S with a clean install of 8.3 is a much more responsive and smooth experience. An iPhone 5 or 5S running 7.1.2 is much better still, as iOS8 is inherently a bit of a pig's ear.

I'll add that the two generations older iPhone 5 actually reloads browser tabs and apps much less readily too, so in many respects the much older iPhone 5 is a better phone.

Fwiw, 5s on 8.3 is better than 7.1.2. Imo of course.

I wonder how many people know that Touchwiz can be replaced by Nova, Apex or a bunch of other launchers. I hadn't used a stock launcher for years.

I imagine many users don't know. So many android users gloat about how 'open' android is and how 'customisable' it is, but I'm sure many wouldn't know the first thing about replacing their launcher.

The S6 Edge was cool to play with for a while, but the phone has big memory problems (Android 5.0.2 bug... supposedly fixed in 5.1.1)... like always have 85%-93% of the 3GB RAM being used even with all recent apps closed and running the built in "RAM cleaner."

I tried to respond from my iPad, but I just got this error three times in a row under iOS 8, so now I'm using my laptop instead:

safari-reload.PNG

Still waiting for Apple to fix whatever memory problem has made using Safari on my iPads a worse experience than ever before. Even with just one tab open.

NO Android does not suck, however Samsung and the crappy implementation aka TouchWiz suc*s elephants a*s.

In this case, it had nothing to do with TouchWiz. It was a Google bug in the section of code that handles power on/off screen fade in/out. Someone failed to release a texture resource. All that was needed was to add this line of code:

st.release();

Unfortunately, every OS gets memory leaks at times. iOS7 had a nice networking one.

Both companies need to fast track fixes for stuff like this. It's very frustrating to users.

I love the build and design of the iPhone 5/5s. Wish they should have created the iPhone 6 with the same design. I find the iPhone 6 is tricky to hold at times and the squared edges on the 5/5s really help with the grip of the phone.

A 5s does not perform better than a 6plus. That is a ridiculous notion. I work in the cell phone industry and see people upgrade from the 5s to the 6 plus almost daily and the first thing they say when they start playing with their new phone is "wow, it's much faster and more responsive."

The 5s is a good device. Still a great alternative for those who love the smaller form factor but it's not a better performer than the 6 plus.

I've used the Note 4 and Galaxy S 6 and while they blow the 6 plus out of the water on paper, they can't touch the real world performance of the 6 or 6 plus.

Out of the box every device flies! It's what happens over time that matters.

My iPad 2 does that on occasion, not three times in a row and not every website. I agree it's a nuisance.

I wasn´t refering to a specific bug/issue, Samsung phones have nice hardware, for the most part but software is pain in the a** . I´ve hade SGS2, my wife a SGS3 LTE and Samsung phones is nothing i would even consider today, and reason is TouchWiz. That is a horrible and heavy skin, i was in local store and tested out a demo SGS6, and man it shutters/lags like crazy while testing an demo iPhone everything and is buttersmooth.

I know that Lollipop have/had memory leak bug but that´s something that Google is fixning or they have fixed it already?

I just recently sold my 6 and went back to my 5s. I haven't regretted the decision at all since the 5s is much better for me to use one handed than the 6 ever was. Honestly, if Apple sticks with the screen sizes of the 6 and 6+ for the 6s, then I'm going to hold on to my 5s for another year. If I played games and watched videos on my phone, then I could've seen myself keeping my 6. However, I just talk on the phone, text, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and casual surfing of the web. For me, the 4" screen is the sweet spot.

My gold 5s is the only bling I have! Jobs said they looked like classic Leicas and he was right. I will miss this when I have to move on.

3% agree with you (poll last year):

I still appreciate my 5s. It is beautiful. Now that I have the Watch, I'm tired of carrying around my rMini so will likely replace both with the 6s plus or 7 -- which ever is released next.

I'm going in a different direction since getting my Apple Watch. My Apple Watch now tells me nearly everything I want to know at a glance. I even prefer it for phone calls at home. So my phone stays in pocket or purse to be the processor for the Watch and is taken out when I want to use the camera or quickly look something up on Safari.

The 6 plus has a gorgeous screen but web surfing on it still brings up most pages in a default mobile view on Safari, so I prefer to surf the web on my IPad mini retina. I am tired of going to extra effort to switch to desktop views on the phone. I've tried other browsers that let me set desktop views by default but I'm the odd duck who prefers Safari.

The 6 plus requires effort to carry. When the s models come out I'm downsizing to a 6 or anything smaller that comes out if the battery and camera are good.

I still have my 5s and it is nice, but the battery life and camera are sad compared to my 6 Plus, which is why I gave it to my daughter who is less demanding on it.

My dream team would be my Apple Watch, IPad mini or Air, phone the size of the 5s with the camera and battery capacity of the 6. I don't think that's last one is going to happen so I'll take the 6s at my next trade in with AT&T Next.

Oh wow, I've been noticing that happening to me more often, too. Not so much on this site but on sites that have discussions powered by Disqus or seem to have too many photos or videos on the page. Like some blogs and news sites. I had thought it was a problem on the sites' end, not mine. I honestly don't know enough to troubleshoot these things and had no idea what to make of it. Even though it's OT, I'm glad you mentioned it.

A compromised screen, is not a large beautiful screen. That tradeoff defeats the whole purpose of having a large vibrant screen.

A iphone 6 screen is not a compromised screen, it is simply a bit smaller than the 6 plus screen. By your warped logic, you should hope for the iphone 7S plus plus with a 10 inch screen because it will be so much bigger, which in your case equates to better.

Only like one other person said that. Everyone is saying its too small. And its the same guy that always only says that, along with you. lol.

I guess thats the theme this week. Nothing else to talk about except how old phones perform. I don't know what you guys expect them to do? iOS is iOS. Its good software. Don't get me wrong I use my 5S as well as a 3rd device just there sometimes to use as a remote or air mouse but I don't go around saying crazy stuff like it can compete with the new hotness.

Thats already entering the realm of "alternative lifestyle" boasts.

Do you mean like the original post creator? Because I don't believe we have posted on the same subject before. Or the following other posters, in this thread alone that seem to agree:

And once again, I spoke of MY experience with ios (the 5s on ios8 being the best). Not all of us have compensation issues and need the biggest phone we can find to fill our speedos.

Interesting that more people prefer the 4.7 inch to the 5.5 inch (which I think that I would personally prefer more for day to day use), and the most at the 5 inch point (which is closest to the Samsung Galaxy S6 size). If Apple could take the 6, and push the screen size a little closer to the bezels, I think that they would hit the sweet spot between screen size and phone size. My opinion though.

Wow... it is REALLY nice to use a 5S again...

5 to 5.25 would be fine by me. If the next 6 could go to 5 inches I'd probably get it if the battery were something like the 6 plus.

Love the passion but simmer it a bit.

Can't fault someone for preferring the 5s over the newer 6s and vice versa.

In my ideal world id have the 6 design but shrunk down to 5s size with a little less bezel and more screen.

Just sold my 6 yesterday and picked up a 64gb space grey 5s. I loved the 6 but I don't like using cases on my phones and using the 6 without a case is just stupid hard. So far i'm loving the form factor and how easy it is to hold and use. Gripping it with one hand is amazing lol. If apple comes out with a 6s that has a 4" display I would be all over that in a heartbeat

That's what my wife would like too. I actually like the size of the 6, but wished they would make the screen a bit larger in it (less bezel).

Not everyone would agree, some people are obsessed with having a large phone and making sure everyone else wants too, like this guy:

I've shown the above thread to numerous work peers and they all have had a good laugh, just like I did.

I agree that the bezels need to slim down. I also think that a 4.7" display is too small for a premium smartphone and that 5.5" is too big.
A 5" screen with slimmed down bezels would be absolutely ideal for the vast majority of smartphone users. Rather than catering for everyone, Apple seem to have alienated most by selling two different sizes that nobody really wants. It seems to me that a 4.2" screen and a 5" screen would satisfy more people than the current offerings.

Seems like plenty of people (and really way beyond that) find the sizes just fine.

Most people tend to love *whatever* Apple give them but reading between the lines I see a lot of love for 4.2" screens, and a lot of clamour for 5".

And still tons of people finding the currently available sizes perfectly fine for them as well.

As a secondary phone, I like the size of the 6plus. The only complaint that I have is that it is a bit big for day to day use (for me), and the lag (which some, not all, people experience). Having said that, I find the 5S a bit small after using the 6plus (though much easier to grab and go), which leaves me with the feeling that the 6 (with a bigger screen/smaller bezel) would be the perfect size of phone (for me). Most people I know opted for the 6, and love the physical size of it.

There isn't a perfect size for everyone, which in my opinion means Apple should put out more sizes to accommodate everyones needs (and would probably drive more sales).

More sizes would likely make the manufacturing process for Apple that much more complicated and prolonged without really getting that much more of a meaningful return. Perhaps adding one more size to the mix might still be within the bounds of what would work but going beyond that might not make as much sense for them.

I'm still enjoying my 5S, performance-wise (except for the awful battery life now). Had it since launch. I did get some size envy when the 6 Plus came out, and I'm still thinking about upgrading to the 6S (or 6S Plus) if only because the battery life on my 5S is really abysmal now. That said, I like that I can use my phone one-handed and wonder if the Plus will just be too huge because when I spot one in the wild that thing looks like a paddle! Not sure I want something in my pocket all day that you could row a boat with, even if the screen is gorgeous.
