It is not just the size but the weight. Six plus is markedly heavier compared to its smaller brethren. I gave up on it and the regular six is about the biggest I want. 5s is definitely the easiest to manage one handed.

Not that the 6 or 6+ are bricks, but I can put my 5s in my jean pocket and forget it's there. When I had my 6, the phone would slightly stick out of my pocket and I would always be worried that the phone would fall on the floor. With my 5s, I can put it in my pocket and not have to worry about it falling out.

Yes it's a great size. But I like the thinner 6 chassis and the rolled glass edges. I can run with either the 5s or 6 in my track pant pocket zipped up no problem. Six plus I wouldn't bother.

The 5s is still a great phone. I have an iPhone 6 and love it. I don't want to go back, but there is nothing wrong with the 5s.

One thing I miss from the 5s- well two- no protruding camera lens and no bending.

Yes, my iPhone 6 has a slight bend - guess where? At the junction of the volume buttons and mine almost never is my pocket. It's very slight and I will wait closer to my 1yr warranty being up before going to Apple and asking for a replacement.

Thats just simply not accurate. Would you be willing to make a video and upload it proving or showing what you are describing? Like a side by side or something?

Im curious what it is that you're seeing and why you say its so drastically bad on yours.

I own both and the 6 plus maybe faster but it lags a lot at times and the 5s I use for work doesn't ever lag and is fast. So real world experience that is what I see.

Yep, the 5s does hang tough with minimal iOS issues.

It's a very cute demure little phone.

Apples influence has made it a favorite amongst Apple Devotees.

Yes...

Apples failed at putting their best work into the very rough iPhone 6 series.

I bought an iphone 6, which I eventually gave to a family member, but I used it first. Really didn't see any issues with it, although I know the forums are listing specific issues with the 6 and 6+.

I recently sold my iPhone 6 bought a Note 4, but i was missing iOS to some degree so only yesterday picked up a mint condition iphone 5S 32GB 2nd hand, and it still is a brilliant little phone.

I'm really enjoying using the 5S again and it's handy to have when i don't need my Note 4 with me, ie when i'm at work or going out for meals at a restaurant ect.

I was never 100% happy with the iPhone 6 it suffered from a scratched screen within a week of having it even though i baby my phones & never had this problem with any phone in the past, also was starting to suffer slightly from the front camera crescent fault, my past 5S was still perfect upto the point i sold it last year.

I shall keep the 5S now until it no longer offers decent performance on iOS, I'll even fit a new battery myself when this one starts to play up.

The 5S is arguably the best iPhone to date, when context and timing are factored.

The 4S was also a great phone, but with not quite the longevity of the 5S.

They both have seen refinements of the form factor brought in by the previous non-S model, as well as huge leaps in spec/speed/new features.

If the pattern continues, this would suggest the 2015 iPhone to also be a gem.

Although the size issue may affect that..

We see it with Macs, an iMac/Macbook Pro from 2007 is still supported with the latest OS X Operating System. It will get like this with iOS.

As the iPhone is now well established each edition will keep lasting longer. Before each year was a significant upgrade, 2G to 3G, retina screen, larger screen, Bluetooth 4.0, battery life, new charging connection, weight, supporting apps for a watch, Apple pay, etc.

As the iPhone becomes the central point of managing a watch, managing the home, managing the car..... upgrades to processor and RAM will be necessary to manage all of this so there will still be a need to upgrade but for a percentage of people I can see an iPhone lasting 3-5 years by 2020.

I use to have a 5s. Upgraded to the 6 on Verizon. Just did the T-Mobile test drive where they send you a phone to try on their network for a week. The phone was an iPhone 5s. After having the 6, the 5s is too small FOR ME. I could never go back to something that small.

There will still be limited iOS support for quite sometime, 4 versions or so per device. At least until Apple is ready for fragmentation.

This is because unlike OS X software has to run on all devices using the latest version of iOS. With OS X software has minimum requirements. So a game dev (for example) doesn't have to make their game work on a 2007 Mac just because it can run Yosemite.

Same reaction. Looks like you stayed with Verizon. I was having a horrible time with mobile signal strength. I used the 5s to see if the T Mobile network was better where I live and it was by a significant margin. After a few days I set the phone aside. Liked the OS alot which made me buy the Plus. But I returned the 5s to a T Mobile store after just a few days....never did forward my number over to it because I didn't like using it, typing, reading, etc.

My daughter has my old 5S.
After using the 6 Plus, the 5S seems like a toy.
It is great hardware, but tough to go back to that small screen.

Cool story

Stupid reply.

Nope. I made the switch over to T Mobile. Getting great service and awesome speeds.

I don't think there's a clear winner between the 5S and 6/6+.

The 5S is easier to use with one hand. Its aluminum body is sturdier than the body of the 6/6+. I like the 2-tone back of the 5S better. The camera doesn't protrude.

On the other hand, the 6 series has much better display quality. The colors, viewing angles, and overall sharpness make the 5S display look pretty crummy in comparison. The 6's home button feels great, while the 5S button seems a bit crunchy to me. The 6 has Apple Pay.

Performance is probably a bit of a wash. The 6 has faster processor but has to push more pixels (in the 6+ case a lot more pixels AND downscaling too). Both devices are limited by 1GB of RAM :-(

I'd have to say choose the device you are most comfortable with. I think I would take the 5S, because I don't need the features of the 6, and my 5's cases would fit the 5S.

My favorite thing about my 6+ is how it has twice the battery life of my old 5S. Thats a big advantage IMO.

I completely agree with the original poster.

I really hope they make another small phone again at some point
