It would be cheaper to pay the ETF and buy another iPhone.

I don't think you can do that. ATT used to flag your account for a period of one year after you canaceled an individual line of service. They would prohibit you from adding a new line during that time period as a new customer.

Now ATT's website is showing something different. I still can't figure it out if I get the FULL upgrade discount or not. [Both are iPhones]

I just checked and it still shows the full price for the 16gb 3GS so It didn't change.

I just checked the 3 eligible lines on our account and all of them show the iPhone 16gb 3GS for $400.... ATT really screwed it up this time. It better be fixed in the morning.

Why? Are you actually eligible for an upgrade or mad they may have made a mistake in changing yours and then changed it back. Mine hasn't changed like many others but not much I can do

I probably shouldn't have been eligible, but it has been showing I have been for a few months. The 3 other lines are all ELIGIBLE and I checked those and it still shows they can't get an Upgrade discount. I don't know what is going on. One of those lines has a iPhone 3g and the other 2 have ghetto phones from like 2006.

this is so awesome i wasn't expecting this. now I won't even be out of pocket any because i can sell my 3gs for more than the upgrade price will be on the new one more than likely. good stuff!

Sounds like a glitch, I have three other lines that haven't been upgraded in two years and they're all ineligible....

I really hope it is a Glitch. Like I said, all of our 4 lines are ineligible and the Only phone that has been upgraded is Mine. [They all used to be eligible and we haven't changed anything since the last iPhone was released, and that was only on my Line]
