My understanding that any current iPhone owners with an upgrade date of 1/1/2011 or later can still take advantage of the early upgrade price (subsidized + $200).

My current upgrade date is 2/2/2011, so for the 32gb iPhone 4, it would cost me $499.

Lol, I love the entitlement types who come out of the wordwork every time a new iPhone releases or gets announced. Don't like the terms? Don't buy the phone subsidized. End of story

He didn't say you wanted your phone back, he said why would AT&T want it? You can always sell your 3Gs to someone else to help pay for your purchase.

Call AT&T, if we understand the press release correctly you may be able to purchase for the early upgrade price of $399/$499.

Also, you are being unreasonable. Like others said, when you purchased your phone originally, you signed a contract for 2 years. In exchange for that contract AT&T paid $400 of the price of your phone for you. That's the subsidy. Based on your spending, AT&T estimated that it will take until 1/2011 to earn that $400 back from you. This is why you can't just walk in, hand then your 3Gs and get another $400 discount on another iPhone. They would loose money.
But i heard it depends on how much you spend a month? I spend about $110 a month and is always on time. And i got my phone in Sept 2009.

So you should be eligible for an upgrade in September 2011. AT&T has already moved you up; they owe you nothing and they've already helped you.

You got the contract, you serve the terms. Simple.

Skip the 4 and get gen 5 instead. Then 7, then 9 etc

I skipped 3GS and will go for 4. You really don't need a phone change every year, especially as these phones are expensive. I did go from 1st gen to 3G, but that was because the phone was a brick without 3G for my purposes and I gave the first gen to my girlfriend, who still uses it.

"Im pretty pissed that theres no way for me to get the phone at a normal price since i cant get a early upgrade till 1/6/2011..."

I have some kleenex in case you need it after you're done crying.

waahhhhhhhhhhh

so you're 9 months into a 24 month contract and you want a new subsidized phone

LOL.... I mean I literally am LOL

Dude! You haven't even had that phone for 9 months of a 24 month contract! Yeah, your expectations are outta whack.

Contact AT&T. You most likely can get the early upgrade price. Sell your 3Gs on eBay or CL and you'll probably come out close to even.

Mine says I can purchase equipment at full retail. Does that mean I'm stuck with $599 or do u think I'm able to get a new 2 years and get $399? Sorry have read the guide just says nothing about my message

+1 People need to realize that it's not reasonable to expect an upgrade every year. For some, they spend enough that it somehow works out, but this is not common.

If it says full retail, $599. But as AT&T has said, the formula is VERY complicated. This forum cannot answer your question without possible mistakes. YOU NEED TO CALL AT&T to be sure.

You'd think that at least one person would think to themself, "Hmm... Apple releases a new iPhone every year, but AT&T makes me enter a two year contract. Huh, I guess I'd better be pretty darn happy with the iPhone I get right now."

Apparently not.

Yup, I have a 3G and don't have a problem upgrading every to years. It's a frickin' PHONE people, you don't need a new one every year and if you do, you should be prepared to pay for it.

They are making more exceptions, 6 months worth. Never heard of them giving that much of leeway. I guess you can't please some.

Last release (3GS) they gave current iPhone owners the choice to upgrade before the end of September, then after it was full price upgrade.

This year they just moved some dates up for early subsidy's.

lol, best post in this thread.

I disagree :) The funny comments are amusing. But nothing is more amusing that the posts of the originator of this thread AND his amazing "logic" and entitlement. Those are the best posts in this thread.

In my opinion anyway ;)
