Anyone getting wrist soreness from the AW Ultra? Kind of weird as I have had a AW since the very beginning, and had the SS, so the heaviest one to this point. Will the wrist just get use to it over time?

I have the ocean band and sometimes I put it on too tight but that's the only problem I've had. I always chose the biggest SS available.

No soreness. And I always have mine as snug as possible without squeezing, including overnight.

This is with the Alpine Loop, for what that might be worth.

Soreness to me would seem more suggestive of carpal tunnel or arthritis or the like than of anything I’d expect the watch to cause.

Unless you’re referring to actual sores on the skin surface? In which case that would be contact dermatitis, which can be from allergies to abrasion to infection, any of which could easily be caused by any sort of bracelet.

So never had soreness before. I was assuming it was because of the size and weight difference.

No, no skin irritation.

I have had the SS before this model, and never had issues.

Is it due to the weight? But stainless steel mechanical watches are much heavier and this thing is made of much lighter titanium. So it shouldn’t have any issue.

FYI The Rolex submariner with the bracelet is 155g.
The Apple Watch Ultra is 61g and the bundled bands hardly weighs anything. Even when it’s paired with the stainless steel link bracelet (56g for mine) the total is only 117g, still lighter than the Rolex.

I have never had one of those watches, I was just saying it was heavier than previous Apple Watches. Maybe the weight has nothing to do with it. Just a guess.

Train yourself, brother. You can do it. I believe in you.

I felt some discomfort transitioning from aluminum to the ultra. I have thin bony wrists and the ultra created some sore spots especially when doing sleep tracking. I definitely got more used to the ultra over a week. But still not as comfortable as lightweight and thin aluminum… for me anyway.

Do you really notice it being heavier than your other AWs? Hard to imagine…

Other than wrist soreness, no. The size is noticeable, but weight wasn’t really. I wouldn’t have thought anything about weight without the soreness, so then picking them both up together I did notice the difference.

What kind of soreness and where exactly? Is it butted up against any bone? Have you tried moving it up your wrist a bit?

Wearing an AUW for the last 2 weeks feels like a pillow on wrist versus wearing a sub 14060. Feels lighter depending on band you wear. I believe once the titanium nomad band arrives weight will familiarize.

OP, I had the same pain you mentioned. With both the Milanese loop and the alpine loop. It’s not pain perse, but feels vaguely similar to the soreness associated with a nerve compression of sorts. Never had it with heavier automatic watches or the Apple Watches of other form factors. Perhaps something to do with the shape is causing this compression? I ended up returning mine after a week of bearing with it. Shame though, I really liked everything else about it.

If you’re like me just thinking if I have pain somewhere can cause pain. I’ve worn watches for a good part of my life and the AW3,6,7 and now the Ultra. There was a time where I thought the 6 caused pain and it did. Lasted a few months then went away. I usually wear my watches pretty snug so I chalked it up to too tight. So I wear them a little looser than normal. Sports loops helped with that big time. My Ultra is doing fine. I can’t wait for the Velcro loop to come.

Interesting to read these folks who find the Ultra watch causes soreness. I agree wearing it looser (Series 7) helps me a lot. Maybe not the same situation, but whether it’s my current AW7 or previous and relatively tiny Fitbit Charge 2&3s, I did and do find that if I don’t wear it loose it’s uncomfortable. It’s mildly annoying to have it looser than I want, but as it seems my perfect zone is often in between two notches, I opt for the looser one every time. Occasionally I‘ll still try the tighter one for a while but I can’t make it work more than an hour or so.

Not to say this is the issue for OP, sounds like something else perhaps, but something to try if you haven’t already, i.e. making sure it’s as loose as tolerable.

You are lucky the Ultra is not made of stainless steel! LOL!
