What kind of soreness and where exactly? Is it butted up against any bone? Have you tried moving it up your wrist a bit?

It seems a bit better today, but there is some soreness when I rotate my wrist, and at times it can go up my arm a bit. I did trying moving it up my wrist. Didn’t seem to do much.

OP, I had the same pain you mentioned. With both the Milanese loop and the alpine loop. It’s not pain perse, but feels vaguely similar to the soreness associated with a nerve compression of sorts. Never had it with heavier automatic watches or the Apple Watches of other form factors. Perhaps something to do with the shape is causing this compression? I ended up returning mine after a week of bearing with it. Shame though, I really liked everything else about it.

I wondered if it was the shape. The weight really shouldn’t be causing it. I have a Apple Link bracelet that I used with my SS Apple Watch, and that’s much heavier than this. Agree it’s more a nerve pain.

I threw my box away, so I think I might be screwed for the return.

I didn't do a real comparison with my old S7 but does the Ultra have a larger "back"? Maybe it's just the back that sits differently on your wrist than the other watches.

The back definitely covers more area. I am just curious if my wrist will get use to it over time. Just push through and maybe it will feel fine. I don’t know how long it should take though. It’s been a week and half.

I think its due the sensor pushing down, i have skin over bone wrists and i have that with my normal AW at times and have to swap it to my other arm for a day/days.

When you press the location where the sensor rests it feels painfull, tired and almost bruised, it flares up every so, lots of people have meaty wrists so they dont feel it.

Did a little digging.
  1. Garmin fenix 7 73g
  2. Apple watch ultra 61.3g
  3. Apple watch 4 49g
I think indeed that due the larger overal size/movement and slightly increased weight the pressure point of the AW ultra may cause some discomfort for some, the garmin is heavier but has a flat surfaced sensor area.

But i find plenty of complaints with previous apple watches where people have painful wrists, so it depends from person to person.

I hope future AWs will have a completely flat sensor bottom in the future but it would only benefit a small group of people like me and OP.

I posted about this issue in watch forums and on here but was called a hater so many times and received bans for it. The ultra is just too big for most peoples wrists it’s as simple as that and there is a need to tighten it to overcompensate the added movement
how long did you have one for?

I’ve actually have had the same issue with soreness or nerve pain with the trail loop…also the trail loop has durability issues with the Velcro fraying after a week…swapped it out and tried the alpine and it fits a bit better. I tried my last year’s Nike band and it fits even more comfortable with the ultra…I think it has to do with the band and how tight it is on your wrist with a bigger watch…I’m debating ok returning mine and getting the series 8 as I sold my series 7

I did have some soreness from my AWU. But I bought mine with a Alpine Loop in Small ( only one I could get and wasnt waiting on the watch ). I have since bought a 3rd party band for the moment and I have nothing in regards soreness now. In my case it was all about the strap

This is interesting. I wonder why the straps would be causing the pain? I have the trail loop pretty loose, so it’s a bit odd to me.

yeah it was strange, I did not have it too tight. it was not a constant pain. just now and again, more annoying than anything else. but since swapped straps its been all ok. I will get a bigger alpine loop as I like the band.

Yeah I have the biggest trail loop Apple makes, and I thought making it loose would make it more comfortable. Maybe the way the lugs are made make it tighter in the top of the wrist? I don’t know.

yeah its bizarre. like I say for me I have put it down to having a too small band.

I am very surprised how comfortable the Alpine loop is for me with my Ultra. I am debating whether or not I should cancel my order for a trail loop (very happy with the Alpine green).

Just for my own testing / info (not scientific at all) - I rightened my Alpine band 1 more loop last night before going to bed and despite it not being super tight it gives me a dull pain because of past carpel tunnel issues I’ve had (I believe). I realize the OP says they’re wearing theirs pretty loose and still hurts. So no idea there. :(

Depending on the level of discomfort, if it was me in your situation I would try to ignore it for a week to the best of my ability and see if it went away (or whenever my return period was).

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I remember specifically having a watch that gave me dull pain for no reason for a good few weeks after I got it. It eventually went away - I chalked it up to me reading posts about wrist pain and my mind manufacturing it, LOL (this is me only, not saying that is happening here).

Thanks! Yeah i am gonna keep trying to push through and see if it gets better. I feel like at some point my wrist is gonna get use to it. It has to.

The pressure point on the wrist can’t be that much different than the S7 watch. I am gonna give it time because I love the watch. It’s the perfect size on my wrist.

It was the one before my AW7, so AW6. It was the first watch I got LTE with so .... I believe it was me reading threads of LTE watches causing pain that caused it, lol. (Hence why I think it was in my head). But I remember too I got new bands with that watch too. <shrug> :p

Hahaha yeah I had the series 4, and the series 7. Still have the S7. Those didn’t cause pain, but I just feel like it’s an adjust period I need. I sure hope so cause I threw away my box, so I don’t know that a return is in the deal.
