For some reason, I can’t get my wrist temp function to work. I’ve had the watch for two weeks and have worn it every night to sleep, but it continues to say that it needs five more nights to set the baseline. I think I’ve turned everything on. I’m getting sleep information and the wrist temp function seems to be on. Can anyone think of something I might be missing? Do I need a separate app to track wrist temp?

I must be missing something. I do have it tracking my sleep and I’m getting data on that. Is sleep focus not on if I’m tracking my sleep? From what I looked at, it seems to me that it’s on.

ETA - I think I might have figured it out. I think I just turned on sleep focus. Will report back tomorrow. Thanks.

You can be on sleep tracking and not have sleep focus set, which is why your not getting any wrist temp data.

You need to click on the focus setting and go to sleep setting and then set a time range for when you expect to sleep. It is a little cumbersome, but once you turn it on, and you sleep one night, you will see under health on your iPhone that it says 4 days to go and so on. Changed the setting yesterday after figuring it out, and now it says 4 days to go so it will eventually get enough data.

Okay. I got the countdown started. Four more days. However, I do not like sleep focus. I don‘t want my watch and phone disabled while I sleep. I think I have sleep focused set to allow any call and messages to come through. I don’t mind shutting off app notifications during the night, but there is that security camera that I like to notify me 24/7. I’ll work on having it keep my watch on throughout the night. Unfortunately, these apps are very intrusive. I just want to measure my temp on a regular basis. I don’t really need or want something to be my sleep nanny. Oh well. It’s working. I appreciate the help - thanks!

This is my problem with sleep focus. Just track my sleep…don’t disable anything, change wallpapers, nothing. Just.track.my.sleep! Maybe I’ll do like you and enable everything in that mode.
Also, what happens if it automatically sets the sleep focus and I’m awake for 3 more hours…does that throw data off?

You can just add whatever apps you want to act as normal in the sleep focus setting on the iPhone. I've added all my family and a bunch of apps which pretty much makes covers everything i need day to day anyway.

Being awake for a few hours doesn’t seem to affect anything. Of course the focus setting start on time, but it doesn’t really impact the sleep tracking.

What if you have the sleep focus go off at 8am and I sleep until 930, do I miss that 1:30 in sleep tracking?

Yes. But, that’s just a function of sleep tracking. Not a function of sleep focus. Mine is set for 11:30 - 7:00am. It seems to recognize when I go to bed late and doesn’t record anything until I settle in. I think it’s tied to phone movement also. But it does not track sleep past 7am as far as I can tell.

Well that sucks! I guess I need to change mine from 7am to 9am and if I get up earlier, shut the focus off. It’s kinda no good if it’s missing some sleep time. As for my phone, I sit it on night stand before bed and often times awake for a while when the sleep focus time starts.
It’s just dumb IMO….why have to go through all of this to get sleep tracking!? My Galaxy Frontier just knew when I was asleep and tracked it. I did nothing.

Didn't think you needed to use the sleep profile for the watch to know when you are sleeping? I thought this came out in an earlier iOS update automatic sleep tracking?

Yeah I use AutoSleep app knows when I’m already asleep and awake.
Do you have to tap “lights off” for it to start tracking sleep? If not, do you know the point of that feature?

Everything I’ve been seeing, you have to use the sleep focus mode for it to track sleep.

Mine was tracking sleep without Sleep Focus being turned on. Just had to set up a schedule.

No, but if you use it, AutoSleep can track how long it took you to fall asleep. It uses this for calculating the sleep efficiency (time in bed vs time asleep).

I'm not sure what combination of settings is allowing this, but my sleep is tracked correctly even outside of my configured sleep schedule.

I've noticed that this is the case because the time I fall asleep and the time I wake up has organically shifted over the past several months, but I've made no changes to my sleep schedule in iOS. Still I'm getting sleep tracking outside of the schedule.

I'm on iOS 16 on my iPhone and watchOS 8 on my Apple Watch. Those of you who are not getting sleep tracking outside of your sleep schedule, are you on iOS 16 + watchOS 9 by any chance?

At least with mine, the schedule is within the sleep focus.

I think mine is going beyond the schedule as well. My focus is set to go off at 7am and I think I got out of bed around 7:45 and it’s indicated here. If that’s the case, the schedule makes no sense. Im going to keep a closer eye tomorrow about what time I get out of bed vs the schedule.

I’ve had the AWU since launch, and no temperature at all 🤷🏻‍♂️ I use the sleep schedule and alarm ⏰ every day.
