So, I'm thinking of just forking over the money and upgrading my 3G to a 3GS. I want to get the 32GB Black and then sell my white 3G. I am not eligible for an upgrade, but I can do an early upgrade and pay $499 for the phone. I know there is an $18 upgrade fee, but other than that will there be any more fees I have to pay?

So pretty much, will I be able to just spend $518 + tax and have my monthly bill continue normally after that? Or are there other charges such as a prorated charge the first month.

Just the $18 upgrade fee. Everything else stays, unless you wish to up the text messages.
