Wow! I see all these people buying both Air and rMinis dayum! The Apple made it so hard to choose people are choosing both.
 
In my case, I was hoping to get a balanced display. Since the Air is over saturated and the Mini is undersaturated, buying both solved my problem!
 
I can't justify both so I chose the Retina Mini as I take it everywhere I go. Great screen, and great capacity and speed over the older mini. My eyes can still read small text for now so I'm as content as can be. I have smaller hands so even the smallish bt keyboards are not that big of an issue and even typing on my lap on the train during a 45+ min commute is no big deal.

I hope this mini has exactly the same display as my iPad Air in terms of having a full color gamut.

Nope, people buying for themselves according to the people I talked to.
 
Yes, it's a tech geeks dream... bring home two devices the same day.

Seriously, why are you surprised (WTF?! notation). People use to have a couple computers at home (desktop + laptop), now they have a couple iPads.
 
Air + rMini = Dual Monitors!

I like to use my iPads this way... not to mention you get the best of both worlds

Sadly you're going to be disappointed. It doesn't. If you need a display colour like the Air, the Air is the only way you'll get it at the moment until Apple decide to improve the quality of the rMini screens.

I'm hanging on to my original Mini and I'll sit this Mini upgrade out.

+1. Very useful when you're researching stuff while trying to compose a post. No dreaded refresh because of tab switching. :rolleyes:

Also, if you take turns using/recharging the iPads, you always have an iPad available. :p

One can always desaturate over saturated colours, but saturating under saturated colours won't lead to good results because the undersaturated picture contains less colour information than the over saturated. Simple logic. That's why I'd rather the Air than the Mini if I were to choose one for displaying photographs.

If one uses the iPad just for browsing or film watching or other colour non-critical work, they shouldn't care about the lesser colour gamut on the mini.

Only if you don't mind being tethered to a wall socket. I'd have to be a contortionist if I want to charge the iPad while using it from my bed so much easier to just have two. :rolleyes:

picked up our mini's the other night and i was checking out the Air as we were waiting. makes me wanna get rid of our laptop and do an Air in it's place...hmmm lol
 
Bought an...

iPAD Air 128GB ATT for myself (came from iPad 1)

iPAD Air 128GB Wifi for my older son (he contributed some dough himself) for x-mas

r iPad mini 16GB Wifi for my younger son (instead of iTouch) for x-mas

r iPad mini 16GB Wifi for my younger daughter (instead of iTouch) for x-mas.

Older daughter has iPad mini 1 16GB

and my wife sticks with her iPad 1 64GB (lucky me....).

All equals BIG HOLE in wallet.....
 
So far so good, but what about the knuckleheads that buy both for themselves because they can afford it and it makes them feel better? I wonder how many of them there are!
