Damn. Missed this.

A Santa themed interrogation mystery? Double damn. That sounds most interesting.

Alas, I hadn't spotted the thread. Moreover, I am amazed at the rapid start up.

Nevertheless, I shall watch - with undisguised (and wonderfully neutral) fascination, from the sidelines……

pluto voting for DP is suspicious. last time i was WW with pluto, we did that right away to get him out asap.

You might read the rules :). Nobody gets removed from the game during voting except those who have a bad role. Unlike the regular game, the person who wins the vote is actually cleared with the only downside being losing a specialist role for one night if the person is a specialist. I don't know about you but, I would like to see "Don't Panic" cleared if he has a good role and removed from the game if he has a bad role.

got it.

rick snagwell sounds good to me! :D

why is that? because i posted twice already? tried to give explanation? once again the talkers get voted for, will make for a nice quiet game!

This makes sense. The only problem is, if we target the wrong person, that person might be tempted to save him/herself by hinting at a special role. The bad guys will then scare that person, and if it's Santa then the jig is up.

Still, Don't Panic.

If it's a good role, I can't see the person trying to save themselves. The worst that can happen is that a special loses a turn but it clears that person for the rest of the game.

Now that everyone (except Roric) has checked in, and got the gist of the game, I'm naming 'today's' deadline:

12/11, 10 PM EST

Also: in the OP, I added the order of the night's actions. I think it's more important to strategy than usual this game...

Roric did check in and voted for Tomorrow (for no reason, really dude!).

To clear DP right at the start is a, um, good start me thinks. For what it's worth: I somehow doubt ravenvii would give him the role of the Santa. rick was really early gates this time, not sure what that means... :D

...just like everyone before me, except for Moyank who voted because rick was trying to take his place in voting for pluto in the first round.

Nighttime. Optional.

follow-up questions.
based on the night action order, when the baddies scare Santa, it is the Santa from the previous day.
what if the baddies choose to scare someone and Santa (independently) proceed to transfer the santaclausiness to that same person? the transfer just fails?

Also, what if Santa tries to transfer to one of the baddies?

It wasn't meant to be serious as every single vote was indeed 'utterly pointless'. Well, except those for DP. :D

Also, what if Santa tries to transfer to one of the baddies?

+1
One would think he dies but it isn't mentioned in the rules.

Well of course every vote for DP is a serious vote. DP is probably the shiftiest one in any given game. Unless he is the good guy, then he is the most uprightiousness person playing and should never be doubted. :D

The transfer just fails and Santa is stuck for another day.

Same thing if Santa tries to transfer into a baddie. From Santa's perspective there's no different between a scared person and a baddie.

thanks for the clarification, Ravenvii.
this also means that Santaclauseing has no risks involved and can be used as an extra scan to find the bad guys

I am not Santa (except to my kids :D), so I am fine being voted and cleared. the only downside is that we forfait a chance to get a baddie, but that would be unlikely on day 1 anyways.

So shouldnt Santa just come out each day? and then the guard can guard them that night? They could then transfer the Santaness to someone else as we narrow down the list?

This seems rather easy, or did I miss something?

i can see two issues associated with the strategy:
1. if the guard has lost their ability, then santa is toast.
2. if the transfer fails (either transfer to a baddie or to the nightly scare), then the next night he is outed and unprotectable and baddies win

The guard would know if they lost their ability though right? couldnt they just tell us and Santa can keep quiet that day?

Transfer should never really fail though, just keep a list of who was interogated, as they can tell us and dont transfer it to them, or if they are back active we know they are safe right? Does the transfer just fail if Santa transfers to Jack or Boogey?

see a few posts above (#38 and 41). that was what i asked raven. the Clause transfer will fail if the target is a baddie or the person being scared that same night by the baddies
