Man, thats not enough.... we need dual Nvidia mobile GPUs with SLI...just like Alienware has! (Each with 512MB, for a total of 1GB video ram!)

Could you imagine how thick a powerbook would need to be to fit the SLI GPUs? I really like the idea, but a 9lb. notebook is not really Apple style.

Don't taunt him too much, he might kill you once he finds out they are now 64-bit and higher speed!

I'm pretty sure they consume less power also! It's like buying a 2006 car now when 2007 are coming out but he's not even getting a discount!

In XPSP2 all security related settings are in one place, its nice.

Look, I work with XP and Windows 2003 all day (I'm a Windows programmer; not much call in my industry for Mac programmers). This is nonsense. The security settings are scattered all over XP: to give one example, users in a Domain environment: if you want to add a new local user to a machine that's a member of a domain, you have to go to Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Users and Groups, but if you want to give Admin permissions to a local user, you have to go to Control Panel > Users.

Is anyone else upset that 10am Pacific is after lunch on the East coast?

I woke up all excited only to realize I had to wait half the day.

Yeh, Windows has settings scattered everywhere....

I hated trying to remember where all the settings were in Windows, especially when it comes to networking. Absolute pain!

I know, it doesn't make sense.......I didnt realize Dell was going to be shipping Core2 systems so soon...i had ordered a workstation for some chip design software we used with a Pentium D Extreme....had to cancel it last minute before it shipped because the Core2 started shipping, and outperforms the D-EE. (The flippin software doesn't use multiple cpus, is annoying, so when you want to speed up the synth of the design, you throw ram and the fastest CPU on the market at it.) If only Xilinx supported MacOSX, I'd have bought a Mac Pro instead. Oh well, i've got mac minis and xserves coming out of my @ss at work...LOL

Fancy having to wait until 6 pm in the evening!

It wouldn't have been so dad if my dad was content on waking me up at 9 am, and he could have left me to wake up around half eleven like I normally do....

true
We use active directory at work. I wasn't refering to corporate users, I was refering to home users. hopefully in a corporate enviroment you have a dedicated firewall and other security measures.... like the cisco commercial..... where is the network, in the box. where is the security, in the network. let me get this straight, the security is in the network, which is this blinky thing? yes sir....
lol

It will be interesting to see how "peppy" Steve™ is today. Ha has been quite lethargic and "coughy" the last two presentations.

It will be teatime in Europe. And I have a barbecue to organise so I might have to wait a while to find out what's being announced. I'm actively in the market to buy right now, and want to know whats coming. Aaargh! Pesky neighbours.

Over the TOP!

What are we doing? Why do we need to post pictures of banners covered with cloth. RIDICULOUS!

Domains are designed to be managed via AD through group policies which can be managed through a MMC pane. And local rights can and often are given via AD. Also of what you are talking about IS found under one place: under the control panel.
Finally 99.987% of the known universe doesn't use group policies and sure as heck that applies to your average user. In point of fact someone who doesn't know what they are doing with GP's could very easily mess up their computer.

Yeah, I got it but I have to go find a relative's house because I could be wanted for murder... :D

3.5 hours to go.

3am, 3-bloody-am, it's too late to just call it a "bit of a late night" but too early to wake up for.
