yeah, it was all kindof disapointing, especially becasue a lot of the top ten 'key features' have already been shown before. spaces, time travel, ichat update...
the new desktop is pretty ugly in my opinion. if you watched the video, people started laughing when he showed the grass desktop before they realized he was serious. there were defiantly some great new features, but overall nothing really unexpected. the 'one more things' were not that good either. i could care less about safari on windows, and the developer stuff on the iphone is really not 'one last thing' material.

maybe my expectations were a little high but i was hoping for some sort of hardware update, new imacs or a macpro upgrade. maybe even something about the rumored mini laptop. oh well.

I'm probably alone, but releasing the new MBP the week before seems to have taken the BIG BANG out of all of this.
There was nothing worth noting about the MBP upgrade at WWDC. :apple:

The same could be said for Leopard... The substance of it could have been compacted into ten minutes. The crowd sounded bored with rehash of "features" we have already seen. I almost stopped watching after the billionth time those two kids said "cool" about an iChat AV feature. Come on guys, $129 so I can go all StarWars hologram on somebody? There's got to be more important things to show off.

At 00:30:41 Steve uses the Back to my Mac feature to get a presentation file that he left on his Mac at work. I expected him to click the item he wanted and have it download to his Download stack. But instead he dragged it to his desktop. That's just the kind of clutter he said they were trying to help us eliminate!

Maybe the Back to my Mac development team and the Stacks development team never talked to each other.

I noticed the same thing.

...Although, he did un-clutter his desktop by trashing the file immediately!

How come my keynote isn't working?

I am trying to watch the WWDC keynote, but my quick time just keep displaying connecting, even though I am using the latest version of Quicktime and my internet speed is pretty good, do I have an alternative to watch the keynote or how do I fix the problem?

At 00:45:23, what did Steve do wrong (twice) when he was trying to rearrange his 4 Spaces? He tried to move the lower left Space to the upper left but he ended up zooming in on the Space (the one with iPhoto I think) instead of moving the Space.

Clicking in the wrong place? Holding the wrong key?

I know Scott Forester isn't the presenter Steve is (who himself makes mistakes on stage from time to time) but does it trouble anyone that he had issues typing in the name John on the iPhone? The VP of iPhone software (I think that was his title) obviously should have experience using it...

Otherwise, nice keynote.

He chalked it up to his hands shaking from nervousness, which certainly makes sense. Not that he'd admit to it being an issue with the input system...

I was in the spoiler free forum until the keynote video was up and it was well worth the wait.

Yes it did take forever to load, and it was kinda choppy, but i'm very excited about Leapord. And my new internet browser for XP is sweet!

:apple: = :D

They will...They did... It is.

I wonder if Apple will post it as a podcast like they did with the MacWorld Keynote. That was a lot better than watching a stream version.

iTunes Podcast of the Keynote is up and seems to be working - certainly better than the streaming version.

I know that I've been nervous every time Steve has brought me on stage. But after a few dozen times, it gets easier.

and what

Okay, I was not impressed with the keynote. What is new? What is innovative? I don't even think Steve was aware of what response he would get. I think lg3d by Sun is more innovative. In fact that is what I am concentrating on. I love Apple but, I believe they are dragging Leopard as a small improvement... not a major release. Give me more and I'll pay more.. that is why I use OS X. Innovation not standardization... (Apple if you want specifics... ask me!)

Maybe Apple (NeXT) should revive the Shelf?

Stacks is somewhat similar to the OPENSTEP for MACH PR1 Shelf:

I would agree. I don't think he really thought the Top Secret Features through and the fact that people would hold him accountable for putting them in.

I am curious if he was expecting this reaction.

Maybe by top secret Leopard secrets he was referring to the iPhone (since iPhone runs Leopard)? Dunno. Just trying to help him out. Still annoyed and disappointed, though.

After watching the keynote video, I must say that I find Leopard much more interesting. By just reading the text update it seemed quite boring.

I mean, what did you wanted Leopard to have?
The problem is we had high expectations. At first I was also disappointed, but now I agree that we where asking for too much.

And as for the iMac update, this is a Developers show, not consumer. But with this EA games coming up, I must say that an update is coming soon.

help!

it's really not working for me, i click the link and quicktime comes up and says "bad request 400", i've tried looking for the itunes podcast but can't find that...
anyone know where else i might find it, or why it isn't working?

Did anyone else notice that an app (World of Warcraft) quit unexpectedly when he was connecting to another machine with .mac? Good thing they delayed this thing until October...

I found Leopard to be much more impressive seeing it in action. None of the individual features really impressed me but when you add 'em all together they make for a really nice upgrade.

Still kinda disappointed about no updates to the mini, iMac, Mac Pro, displays, or any hardware for that matter. Notice how he said that most of the Macs being shipped are 64bit. The mini wasn't that good of a deal from the start, and now I really wouldn't recommend it at all.

This is quite annoying, get home from work, expecting to watch the keynote before I go out to dinner, and it doesn't work. Right when there should be relatively little load too...
