Really I don't like to be critical but 1200 Apple Engineers and not one of them can upload a 100MB MPEG to Itunes. I guess your getting the stream ok in the USA but in UK (and I presume europe and Asia) it's not working!.

Apple your a digital media company - show us the digital media!

how is web 2.0 + AJAX sweet?

web 2.0/AJAX (iphone) vs. symbian, J2ME, C+ and Linux (millions of phones out there) ???

Well, I'll be honest, devs better work miracles .. wand or no wand.

I managed to get the stream about 10 minutes before it was put up on MacRumors, probably the heaviest demand time, and it worked perfectly throughout.

Edit: It is working perfectly now as well.

just watched the stream. Seeing it in action, Leopard seems to be a step in the right direction, though hardly the quantum leap the cosmic themed banners & ads seem to suggest. After the delay, everyone was waiting for the revolutionary killer OS that would put Vista six feet under, but were instead greeted with a subtle 'nice' update. Even the receptive WWDC crowd seemed indifferent in their canned applause (unliked the frothing masses that greeted iPhone).

What I found most satisfying were the details. The consistency of the UI gives the OS a slightly more minimalist, streamlined look, which is overdue. The new finder is LONG overdue. The 3d, reflective dock is not so bad, and I seem to be in the minority who actually like the transparent menu bar. Stacks is probably the most useful feature, and as someone who has a cluttered desktop I look forward to this one the most. Time Machine & Spaces have a 'cool' factor, but time will tell just how useful these features will be.

All in all a solid update, though it lacks the 'shock & awe' many expected.

OS X updates never dazzle, because the current OS is already pretty good, so nothing new is likely to change your life.

Windows updates, on the other hand... any improvement is a sip of water to people dying of thirst. They have parades and parties over it.

Tiscali - ouch, everyone i have known who was on Tiscali had so many problems they ditched them at the soonest possible opportunity.

What is the problem?, does it load? are there any error messages?

I watched it around 12:00pm UK time… Loaded fine and ran well with no glitches (Safari 3 Beta).

The keynote itself was hardly riveting. Some of Leopard's features look promising — and I am sure will become un-missable once we start using them.

The applause and "woops" from the crowd was more polite than genuinely appreciative or excited. Also lots of pauses where I am sure it said on Steve's keynote script "applause", only to be filled with uneasy silence.

Unfortunately I think Steve is in danger of overdoing the "One more thing…" thing. Especially when that "One more thing" is hardly worth the anticipation.

Luckily I wasn't expecting much. ;)

Watching The Keynote Filled In A Lot Of Gaps The Live Coverage Couldn't Tell

Think about the other 290 changes he didn't go into. Think about multi-core management for not only 4 & 8 core Mac Pros but Quad G5's as well. There's a lot to look forward to that is deep under the hood in this new version.

I am waiting as eagerly as you are; just keep in mind that those 100MB need to be created first before they can be uploaded. And anyone using Final Cut's Compressor software knows how long it can take to encode for H.264, so assuming they create the podcast using their own software, it might be a while...

Yes, I've got to say Tiscali has been the most disappointing of all the ISP's I've ever used. Nothing essentially terrible it just doesn't 'shine' you know.

Basically I get a Timed out and a -5408 (I'm running QT Pro).

Will try it tonight again when I get home see if the masses have had their fill yet!..

Lame Audience

Wow. Remind me not to practice a big speech I have in front of a group of developers. Tough crowd, indeed. From laughing to the new desktop to not even much of a rumbling from any of the Panther features.

The lamest part was Steve showing the very cool features of iChat. Actually being able to present videos, a presentation, pictures while on iChat is really cool. But when does the audience whoop it up? When there's a backdrop plunked in and some fish are in some water. Wow!

Lame.

yeah!! Finally watched the keynote - turned out to need HTTP not UDP streaming in QT Pro ( sorry Tiscali - whole keynote worked full screen without a single glitch so no complaints)

On the whole : I'm very excited about Leopard - it's a solid bread and butter real world problem solving release and not just eye candy.

For some reason I can't view the Keynotes :| The last one Quicktime played ok was MWSF in January, but I now can't view that (from the iPhone page on Apple's site) or this new WWDC QT stream.

It just says "connecting" and then doesn't get past that. I've turned off my hardware and software firewalls and it's still the same.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The Keynote quality has significantly reduced. Last night i could get a 480p version that streamed pretty well but now its been shrunk further to 320x180...less than an iPod version

Goto System Preferences - Quicktime - Advanced tab - Transport Setup -

1: Choose 'Custom'

2: Ensure 'HTTP' is selected and not UDP.

How many times was the word "cool" used in this keynote?

I tried to count 'em but I was using a 32-bit computer and it overflowed.

Was it just my eyes or did the Quick Look demo look 3Dish? When he was popping the document in and out of Coverflow via QuickLook, there was an pretty believable sense of depth with the Dock adding to this.
