Because with optics as small as what you get on a cell phone, more megapixels just means bigger file sizes without additional quality. I'd much rather see improvements in optics and sensors before needlessly updating the pixel count.why not 5MP??

Where does it say that? It's going to be available with 3.0 on the 3G. There's no reason it shouldn't be included with the 3GS.
